So now I've known 2 people with Covid. The first was an elderly neighbor. He's overweight and had life long lung issues. When I found out he was on a ventilator I thought for sure he wasn't going to make it, but he recovered a few months later. Today one of my cousin's wife tested positive. Him and his 2 kids are really sick too so they'll probably test positive at some point as well even though his side of the family is fully vaccinated. He takes my niece to school along with his kids. He's trying to claim that my niece spread it to his family because she was coughing, but my sister took her to the doctor's and she tested negative. My sister, my mom, and I have all been around my niece so if we don't get it then he can't keep blaming her. His wife probably got it from her job.

My province just announced that it’s dropping the mask mandate on the 21st . I’m not getting rid of mine any time soon though. I’m just worried about all the dude-bros who are gonna call me a sheep for still wearing mine. Of course my response will just be that I’m not brainwashed but traumatised, also I’m dealing with your food so maybe it’s better I keep it on.

On February 25th everything pretty much opened up over here. No social distancing and masks either. Just in time to celebrate Carnaval. Needless to say: infections in my region are higher than ever. I’m sticking with wearing a mask and staying away from people. It’s not as harmless if you’re unlucky. At work several people got infected and some have been really ill. My friend also got Covid. She wasn’t super ill. But even two weeks after, she keeps coughing all the time.

Honestly, at this point I've known so many people to get the virus but I still haven't and I'm dealing with the public everyday. If that doesn't say something about the nature of this virus then I don't know what will. People seem to be very nonchalant about getting the virus but no one seems to be concerned with what the long term affects of it might be and I think that's what scare me the most. So yeah, my mask is staying on for awhile longer. It's saved me a lot of trouble honestly. I don't have to fake a smile at customers who are awful and I've saved a bunch of money on make-up so there are some upsides.

Two years ago today (March 13th) was the day when the virus became unfortunately real where I live. I remember my professor that day (that I had for a few courses) said the university hadn’t made their announcement yet but he suspected they’d close the university for a week and he said he’s not sure what would happen after or that we’d maybe have to go online for the rest of the term. I remember thinking and hoping it was only one week that this stupid virus had to bug us and disrupt our lives…

I haven't been on any big family vacations since the pandemic started but last week we all went to the beach and amusement park. It felt so normal again. No one mentioned any vaccines, social distancing, masks or anything really about Covid. The crowd just behaved very pre-pandemic. It was relieving. I will never take normalness for granted now.

I got my fourth vaccine earlier today (the first day all adults in my province could get it). It’s good I got another one now and they shouldn’t have made us wait this long. My third one was in early October last year, so basically a whole year ago. The effectiveness of it probably wore off quite a bit during that time.
I’ll see how I feel tomorrow. I felt a little bit of aches and feeling cold earlier in the night.
