I thought we could maybe have a new thread where we can talk about the virus. A lot of us make random posts at times about what is happening in our countries so maybe we could post here instead so we can read all of the posts that relate to the virus.

Today they announced my whole province will be in "code red" starting on November 12th, which sort of means it's similar to the first lockdown in the spring. :/ They did this to the capital city of Winnipeg because they had a lot of cases, but I don't see why the whole province needs this. So retail stores will close once again but they can provide pick-up or curbside services. It's disappointing 'Bath & Body Works' will close and I guess we won't get to go into their store for 'Black Friday' sales or the candle day. :/
I wonder if this means people will start to make a lot more orders on delivery platforms like through 'Instacart' that I sometimes work for. It would be very nice to see business pick up again. I had my best week in late March and did a lot of orders that week when things started to shut down and people didn't want to go out to stores.
People were so STUPID as usual today as there were long line ups at stores. My mom said 'Walmart' and another grocery store near there were crazy today and the parking lots were full and there were line ups outside. I saw pictures online that another bigger grocery store also had a line up outside. I can't believe the stupidity of people and how quick their mania and craze comes about. It's all about greed, because people act like they need to stock up and they don't think about anyone else and what other people will need. It's like a race for the resources, and it's sad how self-centered so many people act in disasters and pandemics.

Regularly they close bigger areas to avoid people fleeing to areas with less restrictions. Over here they are urging people to skip Black Friday and spread Christmas shopping. People will definitely order more online. But despite the lockdown and the government urging people to stay home, retail stores are swamped. Last week when I went to the supermarket it was crazy. Parking lots for retail stores in the area were busier than ever. It’s insane. It’s shocking how addicted people are to consuming. Seems like the zombie invasion of stores is the national hobby.

Black Friday has kind of died out in the UK-we had it like once in 2015 and then it's never really been a thing since-but we're basically being forced online this year. Non-essential shops in England are all closed until December, and in Scotland we can go in some areas but not all. Christmas shopping this year is going to have to be entirely online, but I'm trying to support small, local businesses where I can and I would implore you guys to do the same! There's been tonnes of reddit threads I've seen sharing local business recommendations and there's loads of stuff on Etsy-definitely worth trying to support those people who might be suffering more money wise from the pandemic than putting more money in Jeff Bezos' pockets.

They're doing code red in Toronto but Hamilton is being stubborn and resolute as ever to not put us back into lockdown. My store has been insanely busy the past couple of days (to the point I've been coming home sore, like I feel like I've done a full ab workout the past couple of days and my legs are sore...anyways...). I think the panic is already coming and at this point I just wish they would call it and lock us down again so we can get the panic over with already.

I think Maryland was doing pretty well compared to most of the other states. Due to our proximity to DC I'm sure our cases will blow up after this weekend. I wish our governor would actually enforce people from outside our state not to come here and prevent people that live here from leaving/returning, but I know that isn't going to happen.

On the news they explained it will take about a year to get everyone vaccinated properly. So I guess 2021 will not be back to normal. Restrictions won’t be heavy all the time, but there will be restrictions. Summer might be fine. I have a hunch the weather has quite a big impact on the virus. The recent positive news on infections going down might be because the weather is mild at the moment. Once we get back to cold and wet weather, we might see the next spike.

We all think people get sick in the winter because it's colder outside, but I read about or heard this somewhere a while ago that it's because people go inside and are close to each other in the winter. Bacteria or sicknesses like warm weather so it's not about the cold weather in the winter. People are closer together in the winter in their homes or in buildings. I guess that is maybe why some places are closing places down this winter so people aren't in stores as much or being at gatherings.

I guess that is maybe why some places are closing places down this winter so people aren't in stores as much or being at gatherings. That’s an interesting topic. I read about that a lot and even discussed it with doctors. Some say bacteria and viruses make you sick it doesn’t matter if it’s warm or cold, rainy or windy. In a way that is correct because without bacteria and viruses you can’t get sick. However it’s also incorrect because bacteria and viruses are all around. Even in a sterilized environment you carry them with you. The problem with cold weather is if your body cools down or even parts of your body (like your sinuses) get exposed to cold, your immune system has to work overtime and the risk of infections and inflammation rises. Regularly it’s enough for you on your own to get infected. For example: cold and windy weather will give you a drippy nose. It can easily lead to an infection. Humidity or the lack of humidity also plays a role. Winter time: indoors with the heater on, poor ventilation, possible other people around are a great combination to speed up the process. There are more factors, like exposure to sunlight. It’s a combination of factors. But it’s safe to say warm weather lowers the risk of you getting sick. Cold weather does the opposite.

Yeah I think we're maybe going to see some more intimate gigs, but nothing large scale. I think it's sensible tbh. I went to a huge arena concert at the end of February and in hindsight I dread to think how fast something could have spread in an enclosed venue with 15,000 people all singing and screaming and dancing. That's also why I think Loverfest will sadly be cancelled.

That's also why I think Loverfest will sadly be cancelled. It’s tough, especially for people working in the music business. But in my opinion they should cancel everything for 2021. The situation won’t improve dramatically. People should know in advance what’s up. Large crowds are out of the question. Even really small gigs are pointless, because the atmosphere will be bad with few people spread out and everyone being quiet.

I used to have the window open during winter at work and everyone who entered would ask me why (don't worry, it was warm enough inside) and it's to help aerate the room. I hate stuffy rooms, especially stuffed with people. In Summer this can happen too, with air conditioners on and windows closed, I don't know how people stand breathing in solely each others' and recycled air. That's why aeroplanes are breeding grounds for bacteria. Keep rooms aerated where possible, keep surfaces and hands clean, and avoid large crowds. That's your best shot at avoiding viruses.
