We’re back in partial lockdown, my store is insane. Happy New Years, 2022 is already exhausting. Please take good care of yourself Sydney!

Cases started to soar again in my country during the holidays, from only around 300 per day before Christmas to 4,000+ yesterday. Right now, the government tightened restrictions in Manila and the whole capital region and 3 provinces right next to them (including mine) for two weeks. Worse, news broke out that two people who arrived in my country from the US escaped quarantine. One of them escaped from the hotel and had a party with her friends. She tested positive, and she infected at least 7 others. The other one didn't check into the hotel; they went to their condo instead and availed a home massage service.
Oh, and Manila and the whole capital region also locked down all minors and the unvaccinated.

Three more people in my store have come up positive. I feel like Covid's coming for me, but I've been working on a mean glare to keep the germs at bay. It's kinda like this: Should do the trick, hopefully.

I keep my fingers crossed that you won't get COVID.

Thanks, I seem to be doing fine so far. Hopefully infection rates will taper off now that the holidays are behind us, but at the moment California's number are at an all-time high. We'll just have to wait and see.

Just got my booster shot a few hours ago. Finger’s crossed it won’t make me sick.

I just felt a bit weak afterwards, like someone who has a fever, but it was quickly gone after taking a paracetamol. Was your booster the same brand as your initial doses, or a different one?

I slept fine and I feel normal. Just my arm is a bit sore, as usual. I got Pfizer again. But yeah, there was a lot of supply of Moderna apparently. Everyone above 45 got Moderna this time.

It's insane how fast Omicron is spreading. A month ago California was averaging 6,000 new cases a day, now we're at 118,000. It's goddamn biologic wildfire

Omicron seems to have hit its peak in California and is now receding. I guess it's one of those "The bigger they are, the harder they fall" situations; the variant burns out as quickly as it initially spread. Some say that Omicron will be the thing that ends the pandemic, with how many people have had an infection, a vaccine, or both, it will be difficult for future variants to gain much of a foothold. Here's hoping.

Here's hoping. Yeah, it’s spreading rapidly, but hospitalizations (especially ICU) are moderate. Especially in countries with high vaccination rates this could be the beginning of the end for the Roni Rona. For unvaccinated people Omikron is still a threat. You can see that in the US and Germany. Unvaccinated people (compared to vaccinated people) have an even higher death rate than with the Delta variant.
