In the old people's home two streets from here there is a big Corona outbreak. 64 cases are already approved, there will come more. Since a few days we have more and more of those outbreaks in Germany again, often old people's homes but also one ice cream factory. Almost only the english mutation. The third wave starts.

Yeah, it was a bit quiet recently. But over the last few days we had outbreaks in three hospitals. That’s double bad news: for patients and personnel.

Tomorrow the government is giving an update on the next weeks. I really hope they will keep it as it is. We’re barely hanging on keeping the infection rate in check. Rumors are they will open up barber shops and school for older children. That is a big risk. We should be strict until spring. Then we actually have a chance of beating the pandemic over the summer.

Here they opened schools today (some had to close after the first day again), also march first the barber shops are allowed to open again. That in a period with rising numbers since a bit over a week (because of the british and south african mutation).

Here, they are planning to have a pilot test of face-to-face classes in August, but our president said that while the vaccine is not yet delivered, no face-to-face classes will be held, and restrictions will not be loosened.

We have our roadmap out of lockdown here. I'm not holding the government to the strict dates they've set out, and I hope they're flexible in response to the data that's available at the time (lol), but god is it nice to have something to look forward to and know brighter days are coming.
My dad also had his first vaccine the other day, which is a massive weight off my shoulders.

Pfziser is a preferred one since my mom has that vaccine and she’s reacted fine. So that would be my preferred one and it seems the local government site I signed up with has been generally Pfizer. However I will take what I can get.

I have a health condition that bumped me up a category. It’s being managed and I’m feeling great, but I am a little at risk. Truth be told I think I had it already last year before all the chaos started.

Does anyone know much about the vaccine? It arrived here recently and they hope to have the full rollout by October. I'll get mine when it's my turn. It just seems to have come out of nowhere. Like did it come from a specific group or did a number of organisations need to work together? Are they still working on it or is this the trial vaccine? I'm fairly confident in its safety as to reach our market it has to go through rigorous testing, but somewhat reluctant taking one that is so new (and rushed? it was predicted we wouldn't get one til next year) Ah well... everyone's getting jabbed so worse comes to worst we're all in the same boat 🤣 (I don't think anything drastic will result, just confronting being the 'testers' of it).
Edit: On that note, I suppose that's the price you pay for a chance at protection. I remember I was going to sit as a trial for a new flu vaccine so I guess this has thrown me bc it's a new virus?? I did a bit of research on it, and they can't say for much certainty how effective it will be in the long-term, but I don't think I've seen anywhere claim it's not safe (except perhaps certain spaces and communities which I pay no attention to 🤣)

The current ones are from 3 different organisations. There's the ne from Biontech/Pfizer which seems to have a efficiency of more than 95% and it seems that it even make it unpossible to infect others. Then there is the Moderna one which is very similar to Biontech/Pfizer with just a sliglty lower efficiency but they don't know anything about the possibility to infect others with it. Then there is the AstraZeneca one which has another concept then the other ones, it's more a classic vaccine. It seems to have a efficiency of something around 75% and isn't allowed for older people, also it seems to have very nasty vaccine reactions for around 70% of the people who got it. THen there will be the Curevac one in a short time, but I don't know much about it yet. But a fact is that they got a emergency approval, that's the reason why it was so quick. I don't know exatly, but I think that means that the tests where shortened and the process of getting the approval was faster normal.
