Reminder that the vaccine has been developed from an already pre-approved vaccine and the reason development was so fast was that they got around the bureaucracy and begging for money that typically comes with the development of these vaccines. It's definitely not perfect, but unless you're medically exempt from the vaccine OR one of the groups that it isn't guaranteed safe for, please still get it.

Ideally you want to take time and test it thoroughly. Now they’ve only tested it on a small group and there’s no insight on long term risks. I would probably take it if it was available. My immune system should be good enough to handle the vaccination. But that’s going to take a while. Over here it hopefully will be available in January. But they are going to start with people who work in health care. Even for them there’s not enough of the vaccine. After that they will do old people. I hope people will realize we need to be isolating at least until summer, even if you got vaccinated. But that’s going to be difficult considering how many people are already rebelling now.

I see one very big problem with those vaccinations. Many people think they will be immune and can't infect other people when they get the vaccine, but they aren't. So they aren't as cautious as they were before, but the vaccination changed literally nothing, and maybe even more people wouldn't notice that they are sick, so they'll spread the virus even more. That's the big problem I see there. Australia and (I think) Switzerland is developing a nasal spray that will kill or deactivate the virus, it already works on ferrets, that would be much better.

Yeah. There’s still this false notion that only old or weak people get really sick. Some politicians and mainly economists are already talking about opening up when the vulnerable groups are vaccinated. That would be a disaster. Luckily our prime minister and health minister warned people today. If numbers don’t settle the next two weeks, they might even enforce stricter rules for the holidays.

That's what I thought too. But now many virologists explained that it isn't. Because it is a first generation vaccine and a fulll immunity will only be possible with a second generation vaccine. In Germany the situation gets out of control. We now have 600 deeaths in 24 hours each day and the numbers are rising fast. But they open up for christmas and allow up two 10 people to party together and as many kids of 14 years and under as they want.

Finally, starting wednesday, Germany will be back in lockdown. Two, maybe three months too late. But after 30.000 new infections per day and 600 deaths per day with just under 18% free hospital beds in the last days, they finally announced it. Also fireworks aren't allowed to be sold now.

That's a good decision. Our government is thinking about possible new measures too. There's probably going to be a press conference Tuesday. I hope they decide the same as Germany. It also would make sense to keep Germans from crossing the border.

For a country with a bit over 82.000.000 people, that's too many deaths.

Sounds like we’re going to follow Germany in a hard lockdown. News has leaked everything will be closed except supermarkets and pharmacies. It will start at midnight to avoid people going shopping last minute tomorrow. But since it has leaked, guess what people are doing... indeed, run off to stores... Some regions even announced stores will be open longer tonight. If I was the government I would cut off those regions from financial aid. Rumors are we might be in lockdown until January 19th. To be honest: I don’t mind. People apparently need to learn the hard way. Lockdown is my preferred state of living anyway

Lockdown is my preferred state of living anyway That's the reason why I don't understand that we start the lockdown on Wednesday. Today the cities are full of people doing their christmas shopping (which you could've already done, but no every year christmas comes like a new Taylor Swift album as a complete surprise, you just know it a half day earlier). Germany should be in lockdown until January 10th, but I doubt it and hope it will last longer.

I understand some of the hesitancy about lockdowns because it is difficult on people financially but also it has very negative effects on mental health. ): I don't know if you guys over there have the same issues but our government just keeps fighting over stimulus and people are getting evicted from not being able to work and forced to stay in homes filled with violence courtesy of lockdown.
It is not so open and shut. Especially here in America where things are not well organized with it.

No, other countries are able to pay people to stay home and nobody ever lost insurance in those countries due to losing their jobs (like ya boi Mew did). We're not a first world country like most of Europe. We're a third world country with iphones.
