Apparently there has been a case of COVID in my store. The employee hadn’t worked since Friday though... Oh no, I hope you don't get it!

My mom said there was a story on the news or she heard somewhere about my province or maybe the whole country talking about stores and essential businesses and how smaller businesses are shut down and not allowed to be open. But they are whining about the bigger department stores that also sell food and how it’s unfair, and there was talk about preventing people from buying things like clothes and electronics and stuff because it’s not essential apparently. I think that’s stupid because clothes are basically essential for people. Some people don’t have a lot of extra clothes on hand and just have a few shirts and pants, so what happens if they rip all their pants or shirts and need more clothes? Department stores will be the only ones to offer clothes unless you wait a week or two for ’Amazon’ to ship clothes to you. I think that’s really stupid for them to even consider stopping people from buying things like electronics and stuff other than food and essentials in big stores. It’s a one stop shop so it’s fair game. They can’t just take everything off the floor that isn’t food. They don’t have room in the back to put it all. What are they going to tape off and separate areas so people can’t get to them? They can’t stop someone from getting something and buying it. I understand small businesses are upset but they can’t just tell big stores they can’t sell things that people do essentially need to clothe themselves or keep themselves sane during this time (electronics). It’s pretty tough to organize it in a fair way. People need more than just food. But on the other hand: in 99% of the cases shopping for clothes or electronics is not essential. Ordering a lot online is easy and safe for the buyer, but not for employees in warehouses or postal / delivery services. I read somewhere that Amazon had 250,000 employees who got COVID. In general you would hope people would lay low for a while and focus on other things than mass consumption and socializing. But I guess that’s too much to ask nowadays. People are addicted to external stimuli. Not to mention corporations and politicians pushing you to be enslaved in their hamsterwheel of greed. This is why I beg people to not use Amazon. They do not treat their workers well-even in the EU where we have relatively good workers rights, people are still mistreated as workers and made to work ridiculous hours all whilst being discouraged from joining a union. Jeff Bezos has enough money to basically cure the world of all ills and he doesn't do it. Please speak with your money this Christmas and support small businesses.

At first I thought you were saying to literally speak with your money (like looking at it and asking it where it should go), and I was going to say what money? (Don't have a lot of it)

My family heard my dad's sister and her husband have the virus, and I don't know where it would have come from. My dad is not as close with her as he used to be because of disagreements and an a**h*le father of his being the root of the issue between them all, but he's sort of been talking to her a little. They don't see each other in person a lot but she has been to his business once in the last while. I don't know why she wouldn't feel like letting my dad know since she was trying to be closer with him, or maybe she's embarrassed. My cousin from another sister of my dad's told my "sister" who told my dad about it and we're supposed to act like we don't know they have it. They are both a bit overweight so hopefully the virus isn't too hard on them because that's a risk factor.

Today they officially said as of tomorrow the major stores in my province won't be allowed to sell non-essential items. I think it means people can still order things online that are non-essential and pick them up curbside. If that isn't the case, there will be an uproar. My 'Walmart' got a LOT of TVs and I don't know if it was tomorrow they were going to start sales, but my mom (who is a merchandiser and does jobs in there) said the manager is really mad about this. They had so little notice and he said they'll have to work through the night to figure out what they're going to do and block it off. I don't know what would be worse, how they only gave notice for these new rules for tomorrow, or if it were to be Monday. I think it's worse with them giving notice only for tomorrow because there were probably a lot of people panicking and going to stores tonight to get what they want before they can't buy things in store that are non-essential. My mom said 'Walmart' was busy I think for who could be in there at once. I don't know what will happen if people try to buy something supposedly non-essential like clothes or a book or something. Clothes ARE essential. I think they can be fined if they sell these items to people, but what about people who could get rowdy and not take no for an answer? I don't really know why they need to do this. They already limit people in the stores to 25% of its capacity. I don't really know how long this will be for, but it's three weeks or so I think. Just before or around Christmas. This is just another nail in the coffin for a sh*t year. People like me are excited for Christmas and I love the holidays, but this dampens things.

They will probably close non-essential sections with screens or ribbons. You can still be excited about Christmas. I know you are a little shopping spree monster, but this is your chance to really enjoy the coziness of this time without draining your bank account.

And I'm not sure if I've said it enough (jk it's basically all I post online now) but places like Etsy have plenty of smaller businesses that are literally begging for your money right now so they can survive. Walmart will survive this pandemic no matter what, but someone who's designing art because it's their lifelong dream to do so may not be able to continue if people don't spend their money there.

I'm very sad that I won't be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family this year, this is the first year ever that I haven't been able to. It's for the best though.

After a small decline of infections, it stagnated, but now there’s an uptrend again... Not a coincidence of course. People are shopping like nothing is going on. Not to mention the police has to break up illegal parties regularly. I’m in favor of Italian Christmas regulations: everybody stays home, nobody leaves his town.

We're allowed to gather as three families at Christmas this year which I just think is so stupid! And it's coincidentally two weeks before the students will go back to uni, so students will get all the blame instead of the people gathering at Christmas. Never mind the fact we've been told if we want to meet up as three families over Christmas, we're supposed to have all the windows open, bring our own table setting, and avoid doing anything like playing board games where everyone might be touching things. At the point that you have those restrictions, doesn't it just make you wonder if it's worth it?

If you must, invite over one person who lives nearby and would be home alone. Or if you’re alone and don’t want to be, join others nearby. It’s not worth it to get sick or get others sick.

Okay, so now they said that the vaccinations that are coming now won't protect you from getting infected and you can still infect other people and you still can die, the only effect it brings is that the sympthomes are lighter than normal. A real vaccine that prevents you from getting infected or infect other people is around three yeas from now it seems. And they don't know anything about long-term side effects.

A real vaccine that prevents you from getting infected or infect other people is around three yeas from now it seems. And they don't know anything about long-term side effects. That would suck. But it doesn’t surprise me. Getting vaccinated against the flu doesn’t make you immune either. It just gives you a head start with anti-bodies to fight it. It’s typical for these times to race to a solution and pretend it’s sustainable just to get the most publicity. I really hope they keep working on it and test it thoroughly. Meanwhile we have to stick to the guidelines. We should be capable of getting rid of the virus without a vaccine. But sadly too many people are too selfish to make that happen.
