I wonder how Corona beer is doing these days. That's some rotten luck, you spend fortunes building your brand around a word that means "Crown". It's going great, people love your drink, Crown Beer is a household name. Then one day you wake up and find that Corona no longer means crown, it now means plague. Now every one of your ads basically says "Crack open a bottle of pneumonia", "Enjoy a glass of leprosy", "Relax with a Bubonic". My heart goes out to the marketing department, poor guys. On the contrary, when the pandemic first happened Corona was the first beer at my store to sell out. People have a sick sense of humour and the corona people hopped right on it and put their beer on sale. We were selling case after case of it for months. Trust me, their sales aren’t hurting. I'll admit, I bought a six-pack in late February. I had a friend coming over and I thought it would be a funny bit of dark humor. Ironically I still have that six-pack sitting in the back of my fridge, my friend cancelled on me because he left the city to go live with his parents for the duration. I feel like it would be in poor taste to drink them now (Though some people would say that drinking Corona anytime is poor taste). Maybe I'll save them for when I get vaccinated, bring my little joke full circle.

It's always on offer over here, people seem to still be buying plenty. I'm glad it's still about, I quite like a Corona now and then. Aw, well that's good to hear I guess. Maybe the old adage is true, no such thing as bad press.

German government will discuss our lockdown tomorrow and decide if they will get harder or if they can start opening up in december. I think they can't open up again cause the numbers are still rising, it's slower than before but not stopped. Also we have a much higher death rate now and our hospitals ave too much to do with it. And they decided........................................................... nothing! They just wwant to wait another week. All they decided was that people of high risk groups will get 15 of those filter masks on a discount, but when, how, where and even who exactly, they still need to decide. We just have around 300 death people per day, so let's just wait another week Problem is, Angela Merkes really wants to do something, but in Germany the states have to decide what to do and what not, and the states don't want to do anything. Now Merkel is angry and I can totally understand her.

We're in total lockdown in the west of Scotland again! So I might be going back home to England-they're also in total lockdown, but I don't have any benefits of being here and also my dad has just broken some of his ribs.

The extra restrictions from the last two weeks got turned back. But we will still remain in partial lockdown until the middle of December. The government already indicated this situation will probably last until the middle of January. But they are hoping numbers will better, so they can temporarily allow some extra things for Christmas. I think the biggest threat is keeping stores open despite guidelines to stay at home as much as you can. People will ignore that and crowd places for Christmas shopping.

I think we’re going to find out whether or not we’re going back into lockdown by the end of the week as we are in code red. What does that mean for me? Absolutely nothing.

The criteria for “essential” businesses are quite loose. I’m in that category too. It’s essential that plants on our site are producing. But office personnel is not essential. At least not to work on site. We just recently got ordered to work as much from home as possible. All summer people came to our office to socialize. Supermarkets are very essential of course. But they could do a lot more to protect you guys.

I thought the red/orange/yellow thing was a Manitoba thing but I heard about Ontario doing it too. My whole province is in code red but I don’t know what it will do. I guess we will see if it works in a few weeks after it was put in place and they said it will be in place for a month at least. There are still 200+ new cases a day here.

My mom said there was a story on the news or she heard somewhere about my province or maybe the whole country talking about stores and essential businesses and how smaller businesses are shut down and not allowed to be open. But they are whining about the bigger department stores that also sell food and how it’s unfair, and there was talk about preventing people from buying things like clothes and electronics and stuff because it’s not essential apparently. I think that’s stupid because clothes are basically essential for people. Some people don’t have a lot of extra clothes on hand and just have a few shirts and pants, so what happens if they rip all their pants or shirts and need more clothes? Department stores will be the only ones to offer clothes unless you wait a week or two for ’Amazon’ to ship clothes to you. I think that’s really stupid for them to even consider stopping people from buying things like electronics and stuff other than food and essentials in big stores. It’s a one stop shop so it’s fair game. They can’t just take everything off the floor that isn’t food. They don’t have room in the back to put it all. What are they going to tape off and separate areas so people can’t get to them? They can’t stop someone from getting something and buying it. I understand small businesses are upset but they can’t just tell big stores they can’t sell things that people do essentially need to clothe themselves or keep themselves sane during this time (electronics).

Yes, that's what they did in Wales. They had plastic sheets over inessential items and signs up saying they weren't allowed to sell these objects. Tbh I kind of get it, small businesses need better support so I can understand why they feel this is unfair to them. Here in Glasgow we've had pretty much everything shut from March-August and then they've been closed for the past 7 weeks and will be shut for 3 more. I will honestly be surprised if anything other than big chains is open in 2021, which is a damn shame and only furthering the monopolies that these big brands have.

I understand small businesses are upset but they can’t just tell big stores they can’t sell things that people do essentially need to clothe themselves or keep themselves sane during this time (electronics). It’s pretty tough to organize it in a fair way. People need more than just food. But on the other hand: in 99% of the cases shopping for clothes or electronics is not essential. Ordering a lot online is easy and safe for the buyer, but not for employees in warehouses or postal / delivery services. I read somewhere that Amazon had 250,000 employees who got COVID. In general you would hope people would lay low for a while and focus on other things than mass consumption and socializing. But I guess that’s too much to ask nowadays. People are addicted to external stimuli. Not to mention corporations and politicians pushing you to be enslaved in their hamsterwheel of greed.

In Austria it was a massacre in stores. The government decided on a full lockdown. But prior to that people rushed to stores and waited in line for hours.

My mom said she saw in my local ’Walmart’ that they got a big shipment of TVs that will be on sale I guess for or leading up to Black Friday. I don’t know how many people they expect will wait in line or go for sales.

Apparently there has been a case of COVID in my store. The employee hadn’t worked since Friday though...
