Again, in the grand scheme of things, with J&J 6 people have had blood clots. You're more likely to die driving a long distance. How many thousands have safely had the vaccine with no issues? ALL vaccines cause blood clots to some extent, and to similar levels. I can't quote exact numbers here, but the COVID-19 vaccines literally have an equal or less than chance of causing a blood clot than HPV vaccines women are given, and these have been given for years with no issue. A healthy level of scepticism is enough, but you have to dig deeper and look at comparable issues. There is no evidence that vaccinating is causing any major (or minor) issues on a large scale, and avoiding the vaccine in the long run is behaving recklessly and putting lives at risk. That’s actually incorrect. Yesterday an expert explained it perfectly. To investigate this you look at the stats of certain groups in the population developing blood clots. When a certain medicine or vaccine is taken you compare if the number in the same groups increases. You particularly investigate the occurrences in real life and the probability of it being related to taking the substance. For example taking the pill increases the chance (on paper) that a clot develops in your blood. Yet the number of women actually getting a blood clot and specifically dying from it in relation to taking the pill doesn’t exceed the probability they set as a limit. With the vaccines however that same limit is significantly exceeded by the number of deaths that occurred in different groups after taking the vaccine. And yes, I agree that it’s still a big dilemma because catching covid can have terrible consequences too. That’s why staying in lockdown until you can get one of the safe vaccines is the best option. And obviously even laying low after that.

My city has just 1 free intensive bed left. And all that just because the politicians want to show everyone that they are better than the other one, so they do what they want, some cities or whole states even opened up completely (as a test they say), but that just made it worse.

The schools in my state started hybrid learning a few weeks ago so parents can choose whether they are keeping their kid in online class or in person. I wonder if all the public schools across the country are having the same issue that my county is having. Back when class was online only they were not having any network issues because the teachers were at home using their own internet. Now that the teachers are at school teaching simultaneously online and in person classes they are relying on the school's internet. I don't think these school's internet infrastructure is able to handle the load. My niece just got out of her class today because of it. These kids are going to be so behind.

My parents got their first shot today finally (’Pfizer’). Who knows when I’ll ever get mine. Canada really needs to get its nuggets together in terms of giving vaccines to people.

My parents will finally get their first shot next week. It’s hard to believe that everyone will get the chance to get vaccinated by July. That’s only 10 weeks away. The government made a bad call loosening restrictions coming Wednesday. A week before we couldn’t do anything because numbers are rising again. Which is accurate. But a few days ago, people freaked out that we might not do anything until the middle of May. The government caved and made up some silly reasons that the curve is flattening. In reality hospitals are swamped like in January. And we just found out there are hundreds of covid patients put on oxygen at home, to lower the pressure on hospitals. We could get in trouble massively over the next few weeks. The first two weeks of May kids are free from school. People will be going on holiday and get together to do stuff.

Do you know how many percent of the canadian population is fully vaccinated yet? We still have just 7% over here. apparently 24%. They just dropped the age of requirement so that everyone over the age of 40 can get it. We've had issues with shortages though. Also the prioritization of who gets a vaccine is kind of wonky. Like my mom who works from home can get her vaccine but a 25 year old essential grocery worker who has been working full time with the public since the start of this pandemic, can't.

I thought it was much lower than that. Like 6% or something from what I last heard on the national news. I heard that only one million people have been fully vaccinated, or that might only be people who have one shot so far. And one million out of about 38 million people is only 2.6%. I know they don't vaccinate kids though I think so it would be a little less than that for the population of people to be vaccinated. But that's still far from 24%. I also heard on the news last night that we're in 71st place for the number of people we have vaccinated, which is pretty pathetic for a very advanced first world country. *shaking my head*

I think we are at 27% or something with one shot. I can't remember exactly, but last time I heard something about the ranking, I think Germany was something around 70 or 80 too.

Yeah I think it’s 24% with the first shot. We supposedly have passed the 12 million mark for those who have gotten their first dose. There’s 35 million people in Canada and most people will need 2 doses so we still have a way to go but at least we’re getting somewhere,

I just book an appointment for my vaccine! (I had to tell a bit of a white lie and claim myself as one of my grandmother’s primary caregivers but whatever works. I shouldn’t have to lie to get it in the first place).
