Germans are the worst vaccinators in the world. They started vaccinating people on december 27th and today 2,8% of all Germans are vaccinated. Wow what a great achievement!

The Canadian government is so pathetic in terms of the number of people who have already gotten the vaccine, for a (fairly) big advanced country. I searched online and only 2.3 million shots have been given out in the whole country and most of those are probably only one shots for people (not two). Some vaccines require two shots and some don’t, so I have no idea how many people have actually gotten the required number of doses of a vaccine yet. There are 38 million people in Canada apparently when I just checked online. And there have only been 85,000 shots given in my province and there are around 1.4 million people living in my province. A while ago when there were estimates that someone like me near the younger end of people who could get vaccinated (18 and up I guess) that I wouldn’t get a vaccine until October or later of this year. I read on ’Facebook’ today that they now estimate everyone who wants a vaccine can get one by the end of May or into June. I doubt that, but they should get their act together. I calculated the percentage of shots given out of the population of my province and it’s around 6%, which is quite sad...And that’s not even counting the number of people who have gotten all of their required doses. Or some of the doses counted could be doubles for when people needed two doses of a kind of vaccine.

I think (and I could be wrong here) that the issue with Canada is all your vaccines are coming from the EU rather than domestic production or from the US so it's taking ages for them to get produced and shipped. It's a bad logistical situation largely thanks to Trump.

We're seeing a spike in new cases here in the Philippines, to the tune of more than 2,000 a day.

In Germany music festivals fir the summer are canceled. I expect the rest of Europe to follow that example. It makes sense. We better focus to get everyone vaccinated and safe until fall. Festivals are more than one step too far.

Well, it was a year ago today (on March 13th) that all hell started to break loose where I am in Canada. It was (sadly) my last official day of university where I had in person classes. They announced in the afternoon that my university would be closed for a week and they would see what would happen after that. I got an unexpected (sort of) day off for my birthday the next week, since I was expecting I'd be at school in person that day, but I had some classes online instead.
And it was also the same day Niall Horan's 'Heartbreak Weather' album was released, so it was a weird day for me. I was excited about the album, but it was also a bad day starting the virus pandemic response where I live in Canada.

We just logged the highest increase in cases here in our country yesterday. It's 4,578 and still rising. The capital just brought back the 10pm-5am curfew and localized lockdowns.

One week everything seemed fine, only a handful of cases in Europe. The next week it was: oh my God, everyone stay home. I remember I got to work and people were in panic. Our senior was freaking out: “we need to keep working, the boss said we can’t just stay home and get paid...” Meanwhile a colleague of mine was still half asleep and couldn’t wrap his head around what was happening in front of him. That was pretty comical.

We just logged 5,404 new cases yesterday, the highest ever. This is getting too serious or us.

Over here there are talks to start opening up in a few weeks. And most disturbingly, they’re planning for people to go on vacation across Europe in the summer. That will be the perfect formula to keep the virus going until fall and winter. Haven’t we learnt from last year?!

Here, our economy is in a dangerous situation right now, and a total lockdown like last year is no longer feasible. The most they could do right now is to close off smaller areas with high increases in cases just to balance the need to keep people off the streets and to keep the economy afloat.

Here they opened up last week (with some restrictions) and allowed vacation on Mallorca since the weekend, every flight is completely full and the cities too, also we already had rising numbers, now they are rising even faster but no one thinks about closing everything again because of eastern, we already had that problem with christmas, it went horribly wong and it seems no one learned from it.

We just reached in new low point in the pandemic drama. No, it's not even the increasing numbers starting a third wave. It's protestors disguising themselves as veterans and hospital personnel....

We just logged over 9,000 new cases each day for 2 straight days. The government just decided to put the capital region and the provinces immediately outside it (including mine) under the strictest lockdown starting Monday until Easter Sunday.

Over here it’s going in the wrong direction again too. Over the last month cases have doubled. Most infections are amongst kids and young adults. It doesn’t surprise me. It was the obvious consequence of opening up schools. Eventhough kids and teenagers/students probably won’t die from it. They take it home and spread it like wildfire. Even amongst students the rate of hospitalizations is not that low. And it can have bad effects on your health long term. It’s scary to hear people planning so much stuff for Easter.
