It would be really nice to know if I had a job for next year. This whole no job thing is not all that fun.

I haven't posted about this on this forum at all yet but I saw a post on 'Facebook' at the end of last year or into January this year about a company called 'Instacart' and I found it very interesting and almost too good to be true but I ended up applying at the end of January because I saw it on a job website and it said for my city so they must've been looking for people and I applied. The company hires people to shop for someone who makes an order online or through their app and you deliver it to them. I think I'd love this job as I love shopping and gathering things and scanning things (if you self checkout) and you can choose when you do the job as much or little as you want (except I haven't been able to do one yet). :/ I've been VERY annoyed with it lately. I haven't done one "batch" or order yet but I want to. I didn't really want to or didn't have time to do it until now when I'm out of university. I was planning on doing a few of them during my time off this week since it's the last week before I start my full time job again but as usual, it NEVER worked out. I got notifications that a batch (or multiple) were available when I was still in bed or it wasn't a convenient time, and when I wanted to do it I NEVER got a notification. It's been p*ssing me off. Maybe some time after work this upcoming week if I get one for a decent amount of money I'll try it out. Or next Saturday. I noticed that this past Friday night was a busy time as I saw like 4 or 5 orders around 6 PM or so. I think I'd like a job like that too! Sounds a bit like the retail version of UberEats. Is there a time limit to collect and deliver the items? How do the wages work? I don't think we have anything like that here. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you! I see people from instacart in my store often. I think it's similar to uber eats. instacart pays you an hourly wage and I think you get paid the delivery fee as well.

Yes I thought that but it hasn't been said by the company that it's like an 'Uber Eats' or 'Skip The Dishes'. I think there is a 2 hour limit to deliver the groceries because in their advertisements it says to get grocers delivered in two hours (or less). The highest order I've seen on my notifications was $28.88. I really wish I could've taken that one. They say the orders and their values are based on how many items, the complexity of the order, the weight of it, the distance to drive to the person's house, and apparently the tip too which I didn't know. I thought they'd give you a tip afterwards. The value you get can fluctuate because if there is an out of stock item you can ask them if they want a similar item to swap it with (could be lower or higher in price) or if it gets deleted from the list, or if they give a bigger tip after I think. There is also a thing where you get (in Canada anyways) a $3 bonus/tip if you get the highest rating or something. I don't know how picky or salty customers would be and if they'd give out 5 stars easily. I read about this on the app literally a day or so ago so I know more about it now. You use your phone the whole time and scan items as you get them to check off on the app's list and you can communicate with the person through messaging too I think. I've seen a lot of $9 to $13 ones so they aren't as good but they would be quick to do probably. I just wish you could take on a few of them at the same time if there were a few small ones but I don't know if you can do that. I've tried to search for the answer on 'Google' but I haven't found it yet.

I wish they'd send a free t-shirt with their logo on it like you see in their ads but they don't. All they sent me was a lanyard with the credit card you use to charge the orders to. I guess wearing a shirt would be dorky though sort of. I wanted a t-shirt at first but I read what someone said of their opinion and I agreed after that it would be a little weird to wear the t-shirt while doing it as it's like an advertisement and people might ask you about it and it takes up time. It times you on how long you take to do orders too.

Good news: I FINALLY got to do my first 'Instacart' batch today (this evening)! I got a few notifications on my phone at work around 3:30 PM of smaller orders between $9 and $17 and then at 4:50 PM the big mighty savior arrived and I accepted it as there was 10 minutes until the end of work today so I would do it after that. The highest order value earnings I've seen like I posted before was $28.88 or so and guess what today's was that I accepted? $42!! It ended up being $41.95 I think in the end because when you swap items for ones that aren't available or you can't find it adjusts the price of the bill the customer pays and it affects the money you are paid for the batch. It was a young woman woh had like 3 kids and it wasn't the nicest house and she sort of looked to be the kind of person to live in welfare housing but she paid me a $18 tip (decided before I even accepted it) so I guess you never know how much money someone has by looking at them. My mom was with me as she drove me to work today and picked me up as my dad was going to use the other SUV today or something by the time I would be finished work so she drove me as she didn't have to work today. So she ended up helping me and I'm grateful she did. At the start I felt overwhelmed because the order had 68 items but 80 something units (some things were wanted in multiples like there were 5 loaves of bread). I'm grateful my mom came to help me my first time doing it, especially doing a big order. It was confusing to find some items as they were in the wrong section. Like a bag packaged cereal was in the deli section or something when it should've been in the breakfast section on the shopping list. Other things were in the wrong section too.

I recently got my first real job and I hate it. I can't imagine doing this nearly every day for the next 70 or so years. I need to find a way to retire earlier. Like within the next 10 years.

Yeah, work is a rude awakening. I often wonder how on earth I should keep doing it for so long. The most annoying part is that there aren’t any better options. I try to focus on life outside of work and try to figure out a way to let work do at least damage as possible.

I try to focus on life outside of work and try to figure out a way to let work do at least damage as possible. I sort of don't mind it. I started my full time summer job this past Monday like I've posted recently. Maybe it's because the people there are enjoyable and friendly and fun and I enjoy what I do. I think I would work sort of even if I or my family won the lottery. I can see how I could get depressed. Two summers ago when I tried to get a part time job at a store I never got one and I could tell a difference in myself as I felt depressed and sad most of the time and I got in a hole where I'd stay up late and sleep in early and it'd feel like the whole day is gone and I accomplished nothing ever. At least with a job you make money too. I just feel scared for when I actually do start working full time all the time and I'm officially out of school. I partly really don't want it to come and part of me sort of does so I can make more money and help my parents and go on trips more and more Taylor concerts and stuff. But I hate when time goes by fast. The perfect medium would be for us to finally win the lottery and I could still work sort of, but that'll never happen. :/

I've only been able to do two 'Instacart' batches so far. My first one was on last Wednesday evening and the second one was Friday evening after my full time job. I've been watching for notifications but I hate how unpredictable they were. I really wish more people knew about it where I live. It only started here on February 28th of this year here so not many people know about it. If there were more people making orders it would be more reliable and there would probably be orders every day and at predictable times. I expected for there to be some on Friday night and especially Saturday and possibly Sunday but hardly at all. There were none on Sunday and there were a few Saturday morning but none after that and I was still in bed after I saw those notifications (one was for $32 and I would've done it :/). I really hope more people learn about it and make orders so the orders are more regular and expectable. They sent me an email saying they're sending an updated credit card too as they're adding stores in my area that accept only 'Mastercard' but I have no idea what stores here only accept 'Mastercard'. I know 'Walmart' will eventually be a store added in so maybe it will be the next one. Other stores they should add are 'Sobeys', 'Co-Op', and 'Giant Tiger'. I hope that when they add more stores it will cause more people to learn about it and to make orders. Then there will be more business and variety too to shop from different stores which would be cool I guess.
I felt like doing the second batch after work on Friday and I was waiting for a good one to come but of course none did. There was only one that was available and they gave no tip. :/ It was $10.78 or something. I guess it's better than nothing but I can really see how waiters and stuff like tips. But for this 'Instacart' job you're driving to people so they should tip. :/

I believe it's started where I live but most people that I have talked to aren't aware of this service. Hopefully when the public gets to know about it, you will get more opportunities to make deliveries.

I'm sick of the 'Instacart' orders being extremely irregular, but I almost laughed because of the only order I got a notification for this morning. After 9 AM there was an $8 batch (then $10 because no one took it yet) and it was one item. Roses. Was a guy in trouble with his wife/girlfriend?

I had a kid come up to me so that I could review his assignment because he couldn't figure out what he was doing wrong. I look at it for a couple minutes and then I started counting his brackets. I realized that he had an odd amount.
That was the most excitement I had at work today lol
