I agree with things I've read online that this is probably her most "sonically cohesive" album yet. When I listen to some of the songs on 'Folklore' I also constantly hear lines or words that were in other songs or are the title of one of the other songs, like they're all connected together. Damn, she really wanted to make a REALLY sonically cohesive album. Does anyone else hear/see this?

When I hear things like "Chase two girls, lose the one" in 'Cardigan', it's the same as the song titled 'The One'. I hear lots of these connections in the songs. That's what makes it confusing about the songs if you haven't listened to them very much.

This is an interesting post about the album from 'Tumblr'/ 'Reddit': This was the theory I was trying to come up with in the theory thread only this one makes more sense. But no, listening to the album I started thinking that all the songs were about Betty (or from her perspective). I don’t know if it’s true but I like the idea of the album being a folklore.

Sorry, I will make one post in this thread for now. I know this would fit in the 'Zodiac & Astrology' thread but this thread is about 'Folklore' and I find this post interesting for what the original poster thinks each song is like which zodiac sign(s). The Signs As Songs From Folklore:Aries: Reckless, adventurous, and passionate - BettyTaurus: Domestic, practical, and ambitious - ExileGemini: Outgoing, adaptable, and dependable - Invisible StringCancer: Emotional, sympathetic, and tenacious - The 1, EpiphanyLeo: Attention seeking, generous, and charming - MirrorballVirgo: Meticulous, nurturing, and loyal - Peace Libra: Idealistic, romantic, and diplomatic - August, Illicit AffairsScorpio: Passionate, honest, and obsessive - Mad Woman, My Tears RicochetSagittarius: Fun-loving, intelligent, and optimistic - The Last Great American DynastyCapricorn: Persistent, sensitive, and traditional - This Is Me Trying, HoaxAquarius: Whimsical, eccentric, and unpredictable - SevenPisces: Creative, impressionable, and imaginative - Cardigan( Source)

This is an interesting post about the album from 'Tumblr'/ 'Reddit': I keep seeing people say this about it being all about Rebekah Harkness, but I really don't buy it because of one line in cardigan. There's a line about 'your heartbeat on the High Line', and the capitalisation comes straight from the lyric video, which leads me to believe they're talking about the High Line park in New York. That pretty firmly places the story as taking place in the last ten years or so.

'Peace' is me 😂 I can be overzealous in love but I'm literally the most loyal person someone could have 😌

Okay I know we say this every era but there is not a single skip on this album. For me, on RED, 'Stay Stay Stay' is the skip, and on Lover, it's 'ME!' But Folklore has me agape. This album is just. so. good.

I'm dumbstruck how casually Taylor just slipped into the character of a woman who killed herself in a crime of passion.
"I didn't have it in myself to go with grace"
"And you're the hero flying around, saving face"
"And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake?"
"Look at how my tears ricochet"
"You know I didn't want to have to haunt you But what a ghostly scene"
"You wear the same jewels that I gave you As you bury me"
And the last verse hits hard.
Even in death Taylor knows we like havin the last word rofl
But seriously, she just gets it. 😶
What is her inspiration?? Where is this woman's reading list??

Also I want to share this bc I am tired of people dissecting Taylor's work with a fine tooth comb. The beauty of words and writing is that it can be felt and interpreted in a multitude of different ways and wanting to have answers to this and answers to that really drains the magic of listening to the album and making it 'yours'.
