As of now there are just a few states where there is a charge. I haven't heard of any states enacting a ban on plastic bags. I wish they would. Unfortunately environmentalism is not a popular cause with a lot of our citizens. We've been charging for plastic since like 1999. That's mostly grocery stores though and it's 5 cents for plastic (which is being banned) and 10 cents for paper and we have like lower quality fabric bags that are around 30 cents. My store hasn't charged for plastic since the start of COVID but we're kind of a rare exceptions. Other stores in our chain went back to charging after a few months. I think we just figured that since we were getting rid of them anyways there was no point in charging. I wish that we could do things like that down here in the states. We still take the temperature in fahrenheit instead of celcius!

A lot of stores have banned plastic bags for a few years now. But now they’ve taken it a step farther, they got rid of the little plastic bags in grocery stores for things like fruit. They replaced them with nets you have to pay for and allegedly can reuse. I’m all for bringing bags or backpacks for things like shopping for clothes or gifts. For groceries it’s normal to bring a big bag or crate. But getting rid of the plastic bags for fruit is just stupid. I always reuse those at home or put them into plastic waste so they will get recycled. The nets are useless. If fruit has a bad spot your net gets dirty and and it leaks into your other groceries. And there’s no way I’m going to wash them and bring them with me to the grocery store again. I stopped buying fruit that isn’t packaged. Or sometimes I use the plastic bags from the bakery section to pack my fruit.

How do they control how many bags each customer uses, especially in the self-checkout lanes? It is WILD to me that there are states that don't charge for plastic. Canada is getting rid of plastic bags completely now. My work is officially getting rid of them on March 2nd. Germany has already stopped to sell or give away plastic bags since a few years. Before that it was different from store to store if they were free or you had to pay them.

Our Walmart does that! Here in California almost all stores charge 10cents a bag. How do they control how many bags each customer uses, especially in the self-checkout lanes? They have people monitoring the self checkout lanes and before you pay a screen pops up and asks you how many bags you used. Then it charges you accordingly. You can use as many bags as you want it just costs you that much more.

For some reason, I prefer this remixed version of The Way I Loved You more than the original.
For those who are wondering, this is the song where the instrumentals came from. The guy who made the remix raised the key a bit to match Taylor's vocals.

Unfortunately environmentalism is not a popular cause with a lot of our citizens. The store I work at got rid of plastic bags when the law went into effect in my state and we only have paper bags now, for 8 cents each. I could not tell you the number of older, boomers if you will, that respond with "pft I'm not paying for a bag" and just take all their small items loosely instead. Also the number of people that say they don't want a bag, and then AFTER the transaction is done they ask for one and go "wait, does it cost something?" l;askdjfalksjdflkasdjflkjs;d Like I think my frustration comes from the fact that it's a STATE law, not just my store charging for bags. Ugh. As for me, I love the change, and I hope all states ban/charge for plastic bags soon! (My state does charge for plastic bags, we just don't have plastic at my store).

One of the big themes in politics over here right now is "better distribution of wealth". Even though I agree a bit, it's also normal to have differences. Some people work harder, study more, have more potential than others. There is nothing wrong with that being paid off.

In a wealthy country like ours, it’s inexcusable that there are people living in poverty and facilities going downhill. In my opinion it’s due to lack of morals and ethics in institutions and businesses.

New Romantics may be among my most favorite tracks in 1989, but for me, it sounds better with a stronger, more 80s-sounding gated reverb like in I Really Like You by Carly Rae Jepsen. Here's a mashup of the two songs. (Note: this mashup was uploaded two years ago.)

I find Miley Cyrus completely revolting…and that’s before she opens her mouth.

Kanye made Taylor famous. I don't think she would have been this top A lister that we know her as if that original Kanye incident didn't happen. It really thrusted her into a spotlight that she didn't have prior to that. She probably would have been like a Lorde or Lana Del Rey in terms of fame.

The Grammy’s incident was big in the US, but worldwide nobody really cared. Taylor slowly made her way into fame. It started with Red and exponentially grew during the 1989 era. She became an A lister then and it got bigger and bigger with every era. Recently it’s just insane. Taylor easily is the biggest female star worldwide now. Maybe she’s even the biggest star of all.

Could she have done without the harassment from Kanye and still reach the same level of fame? Also yes.

I have to say that the incident actually even made it to the news on German tv, and no not only on private tv stations. So it was quite big. But still, she won the Grammy for the album of the year and it was one of the most selling albums back then. Kanye didn't make her famous.
