This honestly isn’t an attack on anyone in the Fearless (Taylor’s Version) thread. I was saying similar things when I listened to 5 Seconds of Summer’s third album. Sometimes I get tired of people comparing Taylor’s new music to albums before 1989. Specifically RED and Speak Now. I feel like all you’re going to do is set yourself up for disappointment when you expect and hope for the new album to sound like one of those. Singers and bands are supposed to grow and explore. Really every artist. It wouldn’t be fair to compare my art in my journal to something I did 10 years ago. I’ve improved. If Taylor had kept making albums similar to RED and Speak Now, she would have grown stagnant. I can understand if you don’t really care for pop music. It’s not everyone’s thing. I can also understand missing an artist’s old sound. While I like 5SOS’s current sound, sometimes I do miss their old pop punk sound. But it’s fun to watch them explore with their music. I think part of the reason why I didn’t like Youngblood at first was because I was comparing it to Sounds Good Feels Good. So it kind of seems like people can’t truly listen to Taylor’s new music because they’re still holding on to RED and Speak Now. Although those two albums are most people’s favorites. Me, I would say any album but those two is my favorite because I also get tired of hearing about them AJDJSJFK They’re good albums but everyone must hear that magic that I don’t. 🤷🏼♀️ Hahahaha remember how you weren't sure about YoungBlood but it totally finally took me over the curve into really listening to 5SOS? It is such a reminder that music can be so subjective. I do think waiting for another "Speak Now" or "All Too Well" is setting up for failure. For instance, guilty as charged, I think some of my Lover disappointment in the whole album was hearing secret sessioners compare it to Speak Now... XD It does not remotely sound like Speak Now. It still has some good songs but... yeah. I think in some ways the re-recordings are awesome because we get to hear Taylor with it now, and see her vision for it more. In production and all. It doesn't take away from the quality of the originals for me but I am honestly so interested in hearing all the reproductions. Even 1989 although I put this album off like a can of sardines around these parts. It was definitely a shock! But I think now I’m glad they changed their sound. The pop punk sound was good when they were teenagers but now that they’re in their 20s (omg I just remembered I’m about to be the same age as Luke again soon!), maybe it’s time to move on from that sound...? I don’t think it’s completely gone but Youngblood and CALM don’t have that teenage angst sound anymore. Michael streamed on Twitch recently and apparently he said they’ve made some big changes in the band and mentioned the new music they’re working on! I’M NERVOUS AND EXCITED. If people mean Speak Now 2.0 as another self written album, then, yeah, I would like that, too, even though I’ve never had a problem with her having co-writers. I just think that Taylor can experiment with her sound and still put out a good album. There doesn’t need to be any comparison among the albums. Seeing “Executive Producer: Taylor Swift” is honestly a beautiful sight. The little changes on Fearless (Taylor’s Version) don’t change the album too much for me. I honestly think it made me appreciate the original album more and the other re-recorded albums might make me appreciate the originals more, as well.

I might be slightly biased/salty because I saw someone trying to take a dig at 5sos for “stealing” Taylor’s vault idea even though their Vault songs were released 1-2 years before Taylor ever mentioned releasing Vault songs and theirs are just different versions of a few of the songs on CALM.
But I just get tired of fans acting like when Taylor does something that’s supposedly never been done before, that it’s hers and no one else can do it. It feels like putting her on this pedestal when they say she’s the best and no one else can do what she does. Yes, Taylor is a wonderful artist, there’s no denying that, but other artists are just as wonderful. And it kills me that some fans will knock other artists down for doing similar things that Taylor has done when she is always so supportive of her fellow artists. Putting her on a pedestal will do nothing but make her feel lonely. Acting like no one can be on her level will do nothing but discourage artists from achieving their dreams. And like when people mock others for having 6+ songwriters when Taylor usually only has, what, 2 or 3? What if somebody has the vocal talent but they can’t write a song worth crap? I don’t know. Just wish we could understand that we can love other singers and bands just as much as we love Taylor. If they happen to do something she does, it’s not “copying”, it’s experimenting and discovering who they want to be as an artist.

I've noticed a lot of Taylor's fans will only listen to Taylor so they don't get it when other artists do stuff. I've seen people claim that Taylor was the first one to reinvent herself with every era, and I was like 'uhh...Madonna??'

Like one literally said "I'm only here for Taylor" I- 💀 I cannot imagine ONLY listening to Taylor. Honestly, I think I would get sick of her. But poor Taylor, man...she has some wacky fans.

'betty' is a skip, as is 'no body, no crime'.
But I've found that I need time to process Taylor's music, esp after releasing so much consecutively. The other day I saw a post saying the songs you first hear from her but don't love, but then they grow on you, are the special ones, and I couldn't agree more. I've started listening to evermore more recently, and it's like listening to something brand new, because my listening/brain is finally ready to process it. I think 'right where you left me' is extremely evocative and I'm surprised it was left off the main album.

I prefer her more lowkey songs than the ones that are meant to be out there. I think it is partially that they're simply overhyped, but I find 'dorothea' just has a really annoying melody. 'right where you left me' would've been better on the main album, leaving 'dorothea' off.

There's too many flavors of Oreo. It's gotten out of hand Indeed. I’ve never had Oreos. But when I looked into buying some last month, I was confused which ones to get.

I prefer Double-Stuf, I find the cream:cookie ratio is much better than in the standard Oreo. Whatever kind you get, do be sure to dunk the sucker in some milk.
