What is the point of booking for a vaccine? I had an appointment for my booster at 16:10 yesterday, but when I arrived, there was a huge queue snaking round all the pavements outside the building. It turned out most people had a booking, but had to queue with all the drop ins anyway! I got jabbed at about 17:20 and was freezing cold! Yeah, this could be happening over here too. You can’t just go without an appointment. But they’re not that strict with the timeslots. So if people show up early or late, things could queue up.

The usual chaos at German doctors (no matter why you are there). I always hate that too.

Some of my friends keep doing activities despite the lockdown. It’s really unnecessary to go shopping, out for dinner or visit people. We’re supposed to celebrate New Year’s with a few people. So the least you can do, is lay low between Christmas and New Year. If I’m honest I would rather not go.

This morning I was “ready” to go to the office and… my car wouldn’t start again… Apparently the battery was dead again. I just got a new battery last summer. Strange that it was dead so fast. Triple A helped me out. But apparently there’s also a leak of cooler fluid. So I have to go to the dealership tomorrow and have that fixed. Fun times… I’m getting a bad feeling that my car is on the way to the cemetery. I have to think about a new one. I really don’t want to pay a ton for repairs every time. On the other hand my car should still last a while. I don’t drive much anyway. A new car would be a waste of money.

It would suck if you end up paying a lot of money in repairs and the car does actually end up dying. The money wasted on repairs could have went to a new car.

Yeah the way I see it, you’re either paying a car payment or your paying for repairs. Either way, driving is costly. I can say with full honesty, I’ve never regretted buying my car. I’m going on 4 years with my car in June and I’ve never had to worry about it’s reliability.

He wants to take it to the shop. We just paid off the credit card now we have to go use it again. Our car is 10 years old and I think we have spent more on repairs than we did for the car.

Good news and bad news on the car front. Apparently there was no cooling leak. They probably just spilled some cooler fluid in the past. But… I need new brake pads and discs. And there’s a small hole in the drive shaft cover. Combined those repairs will set me back about $800. Yikes.

First world problems… but, my new since last March electric company car had a software update today. This changed the look of everything on the one and only display pad. So there I am wondering where the front and rear windscreen demisters have disappeared to, while the temperature was just a few degrees above freezing! As for the heated seat controls? It had also signed me out of Spotify. Really?! Thanks Mr Musk, for completely bewildering me for a few minutes!

I read they want to do software upgrades on the fly for cars (instead of taking it to the dealer). That way it wouldn’t surprise me if you can’t use your car because it’s rebooting or stuck. Sometimes I think the whole development is going the wrong way. Sometimes less is more. Even without considering how expensive it is. I read the new Tesla self driving update is $12000. Normal people spend that on a car.

My car has a few of those facets, including auto lane correction and the dreaded auto emergency stop. I experienced this, when even though I had applied the brake in good time, for the stationary traffic ahead, the car decided to engage this feature, stopping more than a full car length from the car ahead! It’s a wonder to this day that the vehicle behind me didn’t crash into the back!! Thankfully, you can turn these features off. Of course, when there’s a software update, you have to remember to turn them off again 🙄! It is a nice car though, so I’ll stop whinging!

I have a car with auto stop and in the settings I can adjust the stopping distance.

Sloppy journalists. In an article about the Spotify controversy, the journalist referenced to Taylor pulling her album “1985” off of Spotify 🤭
