What is it with these annoying organizations constantly phoning me? I randomly signed a few petitions probably over the past few months and now I'm getting calls from them. I have gotten probably six calls at least over the past few weeks from 'Canadian Mental Health Association' and I remember putting my name on some petition of theirs. It didn't mean I wanted their phone calls. I haven't answered one of them, except for one when I was in a parking lot at a store and I only heard a woman's voice say hello and I hung up. I didn't know who they were and why they kept calling me. They never leave voicemails, other than one from last week where they said they're from 'CAMH' and will try to call me again over the next few days (which they didn't do, thank god). I searched the number online before I knew whose number it was, and found that it was their number under their fundraising page or information...So they want money from me...Then I got a call tonight from the 'NDP' from a petition I think I signed for something...Probably more cries for money for donations...I don't want your fundraising calls. I don't have anything that I can or even want to give you. I'd give it to an animal shelter before I'd give it to either of those organizations. I hardly ever use my phone (for calls). I hardly phone out on it. Very rarely. And I don't get many incoming calls at all. The last call for a person I actually know was probably my mom or dad from at least a month ago. I always text. It's easier and better than calling. I only ever seem to get stupid spam calls and fundraising calls. Over here you can register for a “don’t call me” database. That way they’re not allowed to call you for these things. It annoys me that everytime you want to do something good or help out, they immediately try to benefit from it and start harassing you. I even stopped giving to charity organizations. They’ve become businesses aggressively pushing for your money. I donated to the cancer research foundation voluntarily a couple of times. Really quickly they started begging for more. They even tried to push me into a subscription of donating monthly…

I'm going to owe the government tax next year but if I were married I'd owe less. Why does that have to be a thing???

Better get used to it. Being single and having a few bucks, you’re first in line for the IRS. I don't understand why it's like that though I think for couples it’s linked to the assumption that there is or will be a family with kids. They need to get a benefit to pay for expenses kids bring with them. And they both don’t always work fulltime. But I agree that singles often even have more expenses because they need to pay for everything on their own. Personally I don’t mind paying taxes. It’s for the greater good. But I don’t like how complex and split up all of it is.

Guess I need to get a Russian mail ordered husband and then send him back when tax season ends

I’ve been thinking a lot about things like retirement or what happens when I die. My friend is single too. Theoretically it would have benefits to sign a partnership deal or something.

If neither of you plan on being in a relationship you may as well enjoy the legal and financial perks of being married or in a partnership.

The toughest message to sell is that I don’t believe she will ever get a boyfriend/husband

Around here half the reason that people get together is just so they can split the rent.

When even official news sources pronounce the new Covid variant as “Omi-kron” or even “Omni-kron”. It has nothing to do with your grandma or cyborgs. It’s a Greek letter and it’s pronounced “O-mikron”. As in: small “o” in contrast to “O-mega”, big “o”. How hard is that.

The discussion and pressure of a mandatory vaccination against COVID and the fact that everyone who isn't vaccinated is locked out from everything except supermarkets and doctors now (and even there are discussions to lock them out, some doctors already don't let unvaccinated people in anymore. Also the fact that the government is spreading hate against unvaccinated people and says they're guilty about the whole pandemic and the situation, also they call unvaccinated people public enemies and right-wing extremists, some peaceful demonstrations against those measures with masks and distances got stopped. And the best is that now they found out that the hospitalization rates and numbers in bavaria (and assumingly some other states) were forged because they counted everyone with an unknown vaccination-status as unvaccinated just to make it look like there are almost only unvaccinated people in the hospitals. But vaccinated people can do party and everything without masks and distance, that they're infecting other people doesn't matter. Unvaccinated people are almost not allowed to invite for christmas, because as soon as one unvaccinated person is there, there are just one other household with 2 or 3 people allowed. And they already said that they will control it if neighbours or other person gives hints to the police.
I thought times were one small group of people were treaten like trash and have no rights were long over in Germany and I was proud of it and the freedom we had. Treat everyone the same or don't say you are a social party, I don't want such circumstances in our country. Everyone should be allowed to get vaccinated or don't get vaccinated without getting hate for the decision and don't get fined for it.

Know the first state announced that unvaccinated people aren't allowed to go to church on christmas. Let's see which fundamental right they restrict next for unvaccinated people. Like I said, everyone who can should get vaccinated, but what happens here isn't okay anymore. We now have daily protests against those restrictions (because they aren't the same foor everyone and because of the mandatory vaccination that should come at the beginning of 2022), but all they do is to make it even harder. Even someone from the UN Human Rights Council already said something about the situation here and that it's not okay.

What is the point of booking for a vaccine?
I had an appointment for my booster at 16:10 yesterday, but when I arrived, there was a huge queue snaking round all the pavements outside the building. It turned out most people had a booking, but had to queue with all the drop ins anyway! I got jabbed at about 17:20 and was freezing cold!
