From "Seven" to "Secret Window" to "Lucky Number Sle7en" to "Frailty". What are your favorite thrillers; classics and new releases?

okay this is now a curious question.
How do you tell apart thriller from horror? or are they used interchangeably?

Yes yes child... come to the expert of these things.
A horror is made to aim at your worst phobias or disgusts. Whether it's ghosts, psychopathic killers, clowns, or being tortured. The genre is not one for Oscar-worthy acting or writing, but it emphasizes gore and grossness. So blood, guts, sometimes even unnatural sexual attempts, etc. And aside from Leatherface or Jason, more often than not it focuses on the evil supernatural i.e witches, satanic cults (no offense to any modern Satanists on here.), zombies, werewolves, and monsters overall.
A thriller more aims to get your blood pumping rather than make you jump. It is suspense, anticipation. Most plots involve some sort of crime or problem which needs to be solved and the excitement it builds will have you trying to solve the problem. Most of the time the threats are human. It's more of a hero vs. villain than a good vs. evil. It usually includes plot twists or red herrings to keep you guessing, then, it reaches the climax where everything comes together. I'd say the genre is more interchangeable with an action or mystery than a horror. But there are some rare cases such as the new film Get Out where SPOILER! you continue to think the threat is some sort of supernatural until you find out it's not, and that it's WAY worse. I'd consider it a thriller, but then again, I'm sure white people are somebody's worst fear so the definitions I've given aren't always accurate.
Okay, I'm done.

Aha, that explains why I'm not a fan of horror, but I do like thrillers.

I like the Hannibal Lecter trilogy! I've never seen the Hannibal Lecter trilogy. It's pretty popular though, I'll try to find a way to watch the first part this week!

You will enjoy it, the movies are great. There’s also a fourth part called “Hannibal rising”. It’s about Hannibal Lecter’s early years. That’s also worth checking out. If you want to watch everything chronologically, that would be the first movie.

My favorite thriller is Predestination. It's definitely in the running as my all time favorite movie.

I always watch the original, no matter how tawdry it might look. I just watched Vacancy the other day. nothing really scares me, but one thing that does get close is snuff tapes. ugh. great movie, it felt a bit short though. x)

Now you need to watch the creepy sequel to Vacancy. I also like Joyride a lot! have you seen that one?
