Moving into my new flat on Monday and already bought some decorations for it-I'm really excited to get everything unloaded and decorate it properly! The only problem is the curtains that are in the room are absolutely hideous, and I'm not sure they can be changed, so that's a bit of a let down

I really wish I could afford all the hardback 'collected works' volumes I want for that professional library aesthetic.

I'm moving into my grandma's old house by the end of the year. Right now it looks super outdated but I'm going to fix it. I'm so excited to pick out the furniture, walls, and carpet color. I personally think I have good taste in decor lol. It's a 3 bedroom house so I'm thinking I'll probably turn one of the rooms into an office and turning the other one into a big closet. I want the carpet throughout the house to be white and the wooden floors to be a light grey wood color. I'm thinking the wall color would be that blue grey shade that I have in my current room. I might change my mind on the white carpet though. It seems like it would give the house a bright and clean feeling but I wouldn't want to worry about dropping anything on it.

Hmm, I might make the third bedroom a guest room and place my bed in the sunroom. That would be interesting. I have so many ideas.

Because if you haven’t, it’s probably a shame to waste a room. As for colors: don’t pick them too dark. On big surfaces they always look darker anyway. White carpets are nice, but they get dirty quickly and then they look terrible. White is only a good idea if you are alone, don’t have pets and hardly anyone enters your home. And if they do, they should take their shoes off.

I used to live in a flat with white carpet and let me just say that you’ll hate yourself if you put that in. Even if you’re the cleanest person ever, the tiniest amount of dust shows on the carpets. If it was me Od put wood throughout and use rugs, and only have carpet where I felt it was absolutely necessary. I like the sound of blue grey though, just as long as the house isn’t completely various shades of brown like American houses always seem to be 😅

I hate carpet in general. Dust, stains, professional cleaning, usually needs replacing every 10+ years.

I hate carpet in general. Dust, stains, professional cleaning, usually needs replacing every 10+ years. I love carpet because it's warm, silent and looks good. But yeah, you need to have extraordinary discipline to keep it in good condition. Mine is almost 13 years now, looks as new. But I'm really anxious about messing it up. Mostly when others enter my home, because they don't care. If I would move and start over, I don't know what I would get. In my kitchen I have linoleum. Seems great and easy to clean. But it's actually not. Some stains don't get out. I like certain wooden floors. But I don't know how they are with stains. Could be even more of a disaster. My friends have laminate floors. It looks okay, but I'm not a fan of the noise. Tiles are even more noisy, not to mention cold. Maybe marble floor with loose carpets would be good

I don't know what I'd do with the third bedroom if I don't make it a guest room. The white does sound like a horrible idea now lol

Underneath the current carpet is wood anyway so it probably would end up being cheap just to have wood throughout the house. You can kinda see the wood in this picture of the living room and dining room Maybe I'll keep that color of wood instead of my light grey wood idea and add rugs like you said. And I'm totally going to avoid the shades of brown lol.

Got a jewelry organizer for all my necklaces that's currently sitting on top of my dresser. It turns and everything! My longer necklaces are too long for it but I'll probably end up hanging them on the hooks on the earring organizer I got as well. The one with my necklaces would probably look better on my vanity but I'd have to do some rearranging. I've been wanting to go to Ikea to get one of those cube organizer things, if they have one, and move all my souvenirs from trips and things to it. That would free up a lot of space on my nightstand, vanity, and the top of my dresser. Of course, then I would be tempted to buy more souvenirs... A VICIOUS CYCLE.

I've literally been ill or away from home since we moved in and my room is a state and I have to get it sorted in the next two weeks and it's just so much effort and ugh So I'm starting to finally settle into my new flat and I just hate cream walls. My bedding and decorations all have white in them and it looks so strange against the cream. Also all the doors, including my wardrobe doors which take up like an entire wall, are white and it just looks weird. I wish the landlords would let me repaint.
