Before I come to the action, a few short facts about where I am at my save right now and what happened until now.
- It's the 2031 season
- I'm the principal of McLaren (since 2030, I was at Haas from 2024 to 2029 and at Aston Martin in 2023)
- My drivers are:
- Car 1 (#92): Zane Maloney (in the team since 2029, came from Alfa Romeo)
- Car 2 (#31): Esteban Ocon (In the team since 2031, came from Aston Martin)
- I finished 6th in constructor's championship in 2030
- World champion is Lando Norris (Ferrari), after it being Max Verstappen every single year before
- Constructor's world champion is Ferrari, after it being Red Bull every single year before
What happened this season before?:
I'm at the second race now, the first race in Bahrain made it clear that my technical director Jody Egginton and my chief aerodynamic Ian Greig build a great car, after I focused only on the 2031 car for the last 4 and a half months of 2030. My drivers finished in third (Maloney) and fourth place (Ocon) and only the two Red Bulls, who dominated, were in front of me (Max Verstappen in front of his teammate Guanyu Zhou).
Second Race in Saudi Arabia:
The first five starting positions were: 1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull), 2. Alex Albon (Williams), 3. Esteban Ocon (McLaren), 4. Yuki Tsunoda (Ferrari), 5. Zane Maloney (McLaren).
The race started and Max Verstappen was pulling away in front, while a group of Tsunoda (Ferrari), my two drivers (Maloney and Ocon) and the two Williams (Albon and Nikita Tsolov) fought behind him. Nothing really happened until the first drivers got into the pit a bit before halftime, my drivers could drive al little longer than most others, because I let them start on mediums tyres. After my pit stops they were on softs and quickly gaining the positions back that they lost because of the later pit stop, 15 laps before the end of the race, Ocon was back in second place (Verstappen still in front with 10 seconds ahead, Theo Pourchaire with his Haas on P3) and Maloney was in fourth place, when the VSC was deployed, because Oscar Piastri crashed his car into the wall. A few laps later the race continued and Ocon pulled away from Pourchaire, a few laps later Maloney also overtook pourchaire and pulled away. Max Verstappen on much older mediums was still driving the same lap times, if not faster ones, than my two drivers with the newer softs. Then four laps before the end, suddenly another VSC got deployed and then I saw MAX VERSTAPPEN IS IN THE WALL! And Ocon was in front, 3 seconds before his teammate Zane Maloney! Two laps before the end, the race resumed and my drivers were smoothly driving to a 1-2 finish.
Now for the first time ever, I have the two first places in the drivers championship (after two races), with Ocon in P1 and Maloney in second place. Zhou for Red Bull is third and Verstappen in fourth place. I'm also first in the constructors championship, in front of Red Bull.
