IThought i was going to like it i dont After first 8 tracks that was enough for me why have F word in your songs. Hopefully the concert will not be all Midnight tracks. Her use of swear words feels kinda gimmicky in a way. Like we were used to a previous image of her. Now she wants to use it for shock value but I'm not against it. I like the swear words she says them funny lol I’m not against swear words or Taylor using swear words. But I agree that it has become more of an act. Like in Snow On The Beach it was really unnecessary to put in swear words. The song is more of a feel good Christmassy song and then she says “f*cking beautiful”.

I listen to Warren Zevon who is heavy on the lyrics, storytelling, and the like. He's a wordsmith and often times draws blood with his songs. Taylor is like that for me in many many many instances. I find the same with Taylor. My post was on first impressions after multiple listens. I will let it steep and try again. I thought your review was totally fair. Like I said, I think it's just interesting how people's opinions change from the first listen to multiple. Especially with artists like Taylor. I think reputation is probably the biggest example of this in Taylor's work specifically. A lot of people will call it one of her greatest album's now but hated it when it came out. It's just some food for thought.

I think I can relate to Taylor in that every time I swear people scandalize it because I never did for the longest time but honestly, I think it's just how she talks. Like it was such a big deal in her early music days and when she swore on reputation it was like this huge thing where now it's sort of like "yeah, I'm an adult and I swear, so wha?t", I think she just puts it in her songs so much now to make it normal. To say it was a big deal once where now it's not.

I find it interesting to see polarizing reactions of Taylor's work upon first listen. Mostly cause I personally find that it takes a few listens of any of her albums before anything really sinks in. Especially with how wordy her songs are, the smarter, wittier lyrics with references to things you have to google kind of get overlooked in exchange for the concepts you can grasp at surface level. To me, I think Taylor's work is like a good cup of tea, it takes a minute to steep. Like for me, when I first listened to 1989 I wasn't sold on it but now, it's one of my favourites. Folklore took a minute to wrap my head around but that was only because I needed a minute to let the lyrics sink in. Same with evermore. This is not a comment on anyone's opinions of Midnights, just an observation I've had over the years. For me when I decide whether or not I like a song I have to like the music and the way the singer uses their voice with the song before I dive in deeper to decipher the meaning of the lyrics. So I know on the first listen on most songs if I'm going to like the song or not. I think about 98% of Taylor's songs are lyrically masterpieces but I may only like listening to 60% of her songs. All Too Well for example is a song that I think is lyrically amazingly beautiful but it's not a song that I like listening to because it's boring. Like for me, the song has to catch me even if I don't understand a word or listen to the words, then later I start listen to what it is about. Because otherwise (for me) I think I better read or listen to verses of poetry. By the way, nice to see a Swiftie who thinks about All Too Well almost exactly like I am.

I have to say, if I wouldn't collect Taylor stuff I wouldn't buy Midnights. For me it's by far the worst album she ever made. Every other album has at least a few songs on it I really like and every other album is good in different ways (even Folklore and Evermore which aren't exactly my thing personally), but Midnights has nothing for me. I don't really like one song of the standard tracks, Karma is still the best, but not really good either. Then the 3am edition bonus tracks are a bit better and I like Bigger Than The Whole Sky, but that's everything. I hope there will be something better in two years. I have to say that Atni-Hero in combination with the music video is great.

I’ve been hanging on to being a fan out of loyalty. But for the last 5 albums I wouldn’t even remotely consider becoming a fan. Every time we’re hoping to get something great again, but none of that is coming true. People are excited about a Tour. But honestly, I can’t really imagine these songs being a good show. It would probably be more like Ed Sheeran: a basic stage and just standing there playing your songs. In my opinion the music is lacking. Recording with one or two mediocre musicians just doesn’t cut it. Taylor used to put a lot of effort into her music with lots of real instruments and creative ideas. For me, the last real great album was Lover, which is my favourite album together with Speak Now. But Folklore and evermore were not bad, they are real good albums and have nice songs on it, it's just too much of the same depressing style for me personally.

These are my album rankings
1. Reputation 2. Fearless 3. Lover 4. 1989 5. Red 6. Midnights 7. Folklore / Evermore 8. Speak Now 9. Taylor Swift
And for Midnights songs
1. Glitch (This song sounds so smooth and sexy. It's one of my favorite overall Taylor songs. I can see it being in the soundtrack of a teen romance movie with a similar plot to the Matrix or Butterfly Effect)
2. Midnight Rain ( I REALLY love this song but I strongly dislike the creepy voice. My dog doesn't like it either lol)
3. Maroon ( I like Taylor's use of her voice on this one)
4. Bigger Than The Whole Sky ( This song sounds tragically beautiful. A lot of people seem to think that it's about a miscarriage but I think it's relatable to anyone that has experienced death or any loss in general)
5. Karma ( This song is fun. It's the only one so far that I've memorized all the words)
6. Vigilante Sh*t (People are comparing this to the sound of You Should See Me In A Crown and I agree they sound similar. It sounds dark like a reputation song which I love)
7. Question (I like the story setup of this song. I can just picture everything in this song)
8. Bejeweled (This is the only one that actually grew on me after I had my initial listen)
9. Sweet Nothing (I like the chorus. It's a soft sweet song but boring. )
10. Mastermind (I like the lyrics but I don't like the music. I heard someone do a cover of it and I liked it a lot)
11. Anti Hero ( This song is just okay. It's the Shake It Off or Me! Of the album)
12. Snow On The Beach
The rest of the songs I can't rate because I dislike them the same except Would've, Could've, Should've. That's the worst one. I don't like the meaning of it

I rarely like anything on the first listen, it feels like I have a hard time processing things, especially new music. It’s always a surprise when I do. I was not expecting to like Lover very much in general and was very surprised by how much I absolutely loved it on first listen. It’s still one of my favorites. Midnights feels like 1989 and reputation had a child. My least favorite and one of my favorite albums XD I also get some Lover vibes, and it’s a little wordy in some places like folklore and evermore. There’s a lot of songs to digest. There’s like six or seven that I’m pretty obsessed with. Then there’s some that I keep skipping. I didn’t even finish listening to Dear Reader until today I don’t think. The only bonus track I’ve listened to a lot is Paris, I’ve mostly skipped the other ones. I don’t really vibe with Mastermind and Labyrinth. I like the other ones, I’m just not like obsessed with them like I am with the others yet, but I’m getting pretty tired of the ones I keep playing on repeat… but also can’t get them out of my head Right at this moment it’s hard to judge, but I think my album ranking would be something like this: 1. Lover 2. RED 3. folklore 4. Fearless 5. reputation 6. Speak Now 7. Taylor Swift 8. Midnights 9. evermore 10. 1989

I feel like Bigger Than The Whole Sky should be called Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve rather than the one that is XD
