That's the point though! As with every social movement there are people who co-opt it for selfish reasons, but that doesn't mean that the demands of feminism aren't meaningful. I also think a big criticism of feminism is that it should mean that men can hit women like they would with other men, even in a playful manner, but I think the bigger argument is men need to start treating each other nicer anyway. Hold the door open for other men, not have this toxic masculine behaviour of laddish behaviour, things like that. Anyway, to bring this back to Taylor, I just think a lot of her feminism has progressed since she first got involved in the movement in 2015. It's clear that, especially recently, she's been educating herself more and making an effort to be more intersectional. I don't believe that will change all of her songs, even though some of them are a big NLOG, but I do think it might impact BTR. I'm all for equal rights and equality of opportunity. But feminism has been going far beyond that. Over the last decade it has spiraled out of control so far that pretty much every demand is unreasonable or even discriminating. Feminism has become an aggressive doctrine to push for equality of outcome (and even more). Basically it's pushing to give women at least half of everything based on their gender. But letting them keep the privileges and positions they already have. Obviously it's very popular and attractive to young women, because who wouldn't want to get things with no effort. And it's really convenient to use your gender as an excuse to get mad at everyone and everything. Also hand in hand with the "political correctness" movement it has pushed so much irrationality and fear into society that organizations, corporations and even the educational system doesn't dare to stand up to all the unscientific nonsense anymore.
It's literally not what feminism is, it gets a bad rep because of extreme feminists just like most movements. That's not what we want as feminists, we literally just want equality for all genders. Feminism is not even at it's core about women, it's about gender equality. Anyway, I'm done here. It's not my job to educate people about what feminism is if they're wrong. I suggest we all take some time to educate ourselves on what political movements are beyond our twitter echo chambers. |

A month to go!  I wish I could listen to it today since I could really use some happiness but probably just hearing the line “but I know I had the best day with you today” would make me burst into tears. The ones I’m most excited to hear are You Belong With Me, Untouchable, Breathe, Change, and Forever & Always (piano version). Part of me hopes Taylor will tell us the 6 new songs before the album comes out but I would also like to be surprised. It would be really fun to try my hardest to avoid reading the track names and just listen to the CD! I might have to do that! |

A month to go! Well...I noticed the video I watched of R-E-V-E-N-G-E got taken down because it included copyrighted content. I thought it was suspicious that it was there one day and gone after that. I don’t know if this means it’s going to be one of the songs or if UMG owns the copyright to all of her unreleased songs and they had just gotten around to taking it down finally. Hoping it’s the first one because that song is so good and catchy! Tomorrow’s date adds up to 13. Wonder if she’ll announce the vault songs then. |

You know what’s going to be cool? If any of the vault songs become singles and we hear them on the radio. They went from being almost forgotten about to finally being appreciated. Speaking of the vault songs, might be time to avoid Instagram/the internet in general if all of this with Shazam is true. I don’t want any spoilers!

I tried. Found this last night and got excited! I was hoping somebody would make a video with both versions playing. I hope this person or somebody else will make them for each song! I started playing this video thinking it would play a clip from the original and then a clip from the new version and just go back and forth. I felt silly when I realized I need to listen to this with headphones on. |
