The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski
Description: born mute, speaking only in sign, Edgar Sawtelle leads an idyllic life with his parents on their farm in remote northern Wisconsin. For generations, the Sawtelle have raised and trained a fictional breed of dog whose remarkable gift for companionship is epitomized by Almondine, Egar’s lkfelong friend and ally. Edgar seems poised to carry on his family’s traditions, but when catastrophe stokes, he finds his once Peaceful home engulfed in turmoil. Forced to flee into the vast wilderness lying behind the Sawtelle farm, Edgar comes of age in the wild, fighting for his survival and that of the three yearling dogs who accompany him, until the day he is forced to choose between leaving forever or returning home to confront the mysteries he has left unsolved. Filled with breathtaking scenes - the elemental north woods, the sweep of seasons, an iconic American barn, a fateful vision rendered in the falling rain - The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is a medication in the limits of language and what lies beyond, a brilliantly inventive retelling of an ancient story, and an epic tale of devotion, betrayal, and courage in the American heartland.

Breaking The Silence - Diane Chamberlain (name sounds familiar)
Description: Laura Brandon’s promise to her dying father was simple: to cost an elderly woman she’d never heard of before. A woman who remembers nothing - except the distant past. Visiting Sarah Tilley seemed a small enough sacrifice to make.
But Laura’s promise results in another death. Her husband’s. And after their five year old daughter, Emma, witnesses her father’s suicide, Emma refuses to talk about it... to talk at all.
Frantic and guilt ridden, Laura contacts the only person who may be able to help. A man she’s met only one - six years before. A man who doesn’t know he’s Emma’s real father.
Guided only by a child’s silence and an old woman’s fading memories, the two unravel a tale of love and despair, of bravery and unspeakable evil. A tale that shrouded in silence...and that unbelievably links them all.

In the near future I am planning on reading 'Marching Through Georgia' by Lee Kennett. I purchased this as a used book. This is a historical account of General William Tecumseh Sherman's Georgia campaign in 1864 during the American Civil War. It describes the experiences that soldiers on both sides of the conflict went through. The book also details the many hardships that the civilians in Georgia endured.

next, on my TBR i have to say is "The Queens Rising" by Rebecca Ross
Summary:
When her seventeenth summer solstice arrives, Brienna desires only two things: to master her passion and to be chosen by a patron.
Growing up in the southern Kingdom of Valenia at the renowned Magnalia House should have prepared her for such a life. While some are born with an innate talent for one of the five passions—art, music, dramatics, wit, and knowledge—Brienna struggled to find hers until she belatedly chose to study knowledge. However, despite all her preparations, Brienna’s greatest fear comes true—the solstice does not go according to plan and she is left without a patron.
Months later, her life takes an unexpected turn when a disgraced lord offers her patronage. Suspicious of his intent, and with no other choices, she accepts. But there is much more to his story, and Brienna soon discovers that he has sought her out for his own vengeful gain. For there is a dangerous plot being planned to overthrow the king of Maevana—the archrival kingdom of Valenia—and restore the rightful queen, and her magic, to the northern throne. And others are involved—some closer to Brienna than she realizes.
With war brewing between the two lands, Brienna must choose whose side she will remain loyal to—passion or blood. Because a queen is destined to rise and lead the battle to reclaim the crown. The ultimate decision Brienna must determine is: Who will be that queen?

'Gone With The Wind' is one of my favorite books. I have a copy on my bookshelf. I have read the entire book and plan on reading it again someday. The author, Margaret Mitchel, won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1937 for this book. I also like the movie which was based on the book. It received ten Academy Awards.

I am looking forward to reading 'Lincoln's Men' by Daniel Mark Epstein. John Hay and John Nicolay were Abraham Lincoln's two closest and most important assistants during his Presidency. This book describes how the three of them worked together as a team during Lincoln's tenure as President.

I have read about one hundred pages of 'The Founders at Home' by Myron Magnet. So far I am enjoying this book very much. It describes the houses that many of the revolutionary era heroes of the United States lived at. George Washington, John Jay, and Alexander Hamilton are some of the people discussed. Also included is a great deal of biographical information about the founding Fathers of the United States.
