When we started this website, I posted the rules from the Old TC as a base for the rules for this website. As time has gone on I’ve noticed that there are quite a few grey areas in the rules. I’ve decided that it’s time to make the rules less vague. So, without further adieu, here are the official rules of New Taylor Connect.
1. No bullying of any kind, in any form, EVER
There is an absolute ZERO TOLERANCE for bullying on this website. Types of bullying can include (but are not limited to):
-harassment
-derogatory slurs (racist, homophobic, misogynistic or ableist slurs are all included under that umbrella)
-blackmail
-peer pressure (no one needs to be forced to post things they are uncomfortable with)
-violent threats/intimidation
-sexual threats
2. Absolutely NO talk of politics or religion
Mentioning something about your faith in passing (in the appropriate thread) is one thing but there is absolutely no need to mention your faith in absolutely every post, on topics unrelated to faith and religion. I would like to remind everyone that this is a Taylor Swift fan site, NOT a soapbox to spread political or religious beliefs. Not everyone believes the same things as you do and posting about things on the religious or political spectrum can make people uncomfortable which is the last thing people should feel on this website.
3. No impersonating other people
If you pretend to be someone you are not, whether it’s a celebrity or someone from old TC or ANYONE else. You will be automatically banned. No ifs, ands or buts about it.
4. One account per person
You only need 1 account. If you make multiple personal accounts they will be automatically banned. (Exceptions can be made for groups or clubs but they must be approved by Mew™ or SydneyPaige first)
5. Only respond to threads with posts related to the topic of the thread
If you are on a sports thread (take the Nascar thread for example) you should not be talking about your prom dress. If you are on a thread about Taylor you should not be talking about anyone else but Taylor. Posting unrelated things in the wrong threads make threads messy and hard to sort through which, in turn, makes the forum harder to use.
6. No excessive bumping
If you want your thread to become popular bumping it once or twice won’t hurt. Bumping it HUNDREDS of times however will cause it to be deleted.
7. Only send out group emails to people who have given you permission to send them to them
Group emails can be useful if you’re informing multiple people of important information surrounding something like a contest however, sending out a group email over small details like what you had for lunch that day, comes across as annoying. Once again, if you want to share personal details of your day, utilize the blog or the journal section of the website.
8. Absolutely no talk of Taylor’s (or any of the other Swift’s for that matter) love life (beyond well wishes)
We don’t care if you shipped Taylor and Calvin, We don’t care if you think Joe Alwyn is horrid or a saint. TAYLOR’S. LOVE. LIFE. IS. NO. ONES. BUSINESS. EXCEPT. TAYLOR. SWIFT’S. AND. HER. BOYFRIEND. Opinion pieces on who Taylor’s best boyfriends were are misogynistic and rude. and will not be a part of this site.
9. All items that are traded must be items under $100 dollars and all trades must have clear terms.
If you want to swap Taylor Merch with another Swiftie that is allowed but we have to limit it to $100. This is put in place to ensure that no swifties get conned out of money. If there is an item over that price range you would like to trade or give away over that price limit it has to be cleared with either SydneyPaige or Mew™ first
10. ABSOLUTELY NO RESELLING OR TRADING OF TAYLOR SWIFT TICKETS ALLOWED
Scalpers will also be automatically banned. If you want to resell your Taylor tickets you can do it anywhere else but here.
11. No inappropriate posts
This is a family website. If it’s NSFW it’s not allowed on here (this should go without saying).
Any violation to these rules will result in warnings, loss of privileges, suspension or expulsion from the website.
1 violation = A warning from a moderator and a raise of your warning level by 10%
2 violations = Loss of certain website privileges, a raise of your warning level to 50%
3 violations = Raise of your warning level to 70%, 3 day suspension of your account.
4 violations = Raise of your warning level to 80%, A week long suspension of your account.
5 to 9 violations = Raise of your warning level to 90%, suspensions varying from 2 weeks to a year depending on how bad the violations were.
10 violations = An official ban from the website.
Certain violations that are overtly offensive or threatening to one’s safety will lead to an automatic ban.
Hopefully we don’t have to enforce these violations too often and we will lower warning levels of people who misbehave over time with good behaviour. Hopefully with a full understanding of the rules we can have some fun.
