Really, does it surprise anyone? TaylorConnect was going really well and had good traffic, you could use it with any device and it was just a great community. The Swift Life you can only use with Android or IOS devices and it started from scratch, they got trolled (like almost every social network) and the old soul of TaylorConnect couldn't be transported over to The Swift Life.

I do understand it from TN's point of view, but I feel the 'replacing TC with TSL' was... an exaggerated narrative. I believe they had plans to ditch TC for some time but this gave them an 'easy' excuse for the community. I'm not sure if we knew each other on TC oliviabenson(Taylor's Version) but about a year before they deleted it, TN contacted taytaytay and myself about becoming moderators, and we did. They made it sound like they had lots of plans to 'reinvent' TC. It was exciting (I finally felt noticed by TN). But the closure of TC was as much of a shock to us as anyone else. A lot of people were under the impression that we knew about it before they did, but TN never contacted us beforehand, and even the 'old' mods thought this was rude. Anyway, it was just a really strange landslide from exciting emails from TN about TC 12 months prior, to... what happened. I honestly don't know the real reason it was removed. I believe because the community was so small in comparison to other social media sites, they probably didn't feel it was worth keeping around. I believe TC could have been lifted off the ground if they had given more power to the fans. Wonderful Union were sh*t hosts. I sometimes wonder if they regret deleting TC after TSL was such a fail. TC was such a 'home' to many fans for many years. Some artists still have fan forums on their website and I think with a few changes, it really would not have been much skin off TN's back to keep TC. But, what do I know, lol. I just think the entire journey from 2016 to now has been bizarre. I will never know why they added more moderators (after so many years of needing them) to just deleting the forum. Furthermore, TSL was given all this hype for nothing. I'm not sure how much Taylor had to do with it, but I thought she was supposed to be more active on it. And now, it is a complete and utter failure... :/

But what a horrible management and organization is it when they fail to even inform their moderators about their plans to shut it down? That's total mismanagement. Did they ever asked you about ideas how to make TC better or something? Normally I would think in terms of managing and planning a forum there is communication and brain storming between admins and moderators. Like I said in my journal, I organized something myself and was moderator on a forum for a few years, sure it wasn't a big thing like a fansite for Taylor Swift and it was nothing that was commercial, but we always had communication between admins, the heads of the different series (what I was) and our members.

oliviabenson(Taylor's Version) Thinking back, they never really communicated with us at all. I remember the initial emails before they 'promoted' me (lmao), and the one that was to do with Super Saturday Night, but in terms of the forum, I mean I think one of them may have said they were adding new mods because of 'changes' but after that they never really showed much interest in taking things further. I did email them once or twice and never received a reply. It was sort of intimidating, like I didn't want to push my luck in fear of losing my position and because it's Taylor's management, but I spent hours fixing things up on TC that should have been fixed long before...

At least they could've answered. I stay with my opinion that it is really bad management.

I forgot this thread existed.
So assuming TSL came out on the 1st, and now they're closing it on Feb 1st, by my 3rd grade math the site lasted a year and a month. NTC OUTLIVED TSL! But I'm not going to rub that in their faces, well not any more than I already have. I said my peace on the NTC Twitter.

They got what they wanted: they made money for a year. Now that the amount of users has tumbled, they simply quit. What saddens me, is that it came out with the slogan to connect fans and bring exclusive interaction with Taylor. They did none of that, not even remotely. Anyway, glad we have NTC!

Guess it was a good thing I never really got into that app in the first place, I had it on my phone and an account but I never did much on it and glad I didn’t invest my time with it since it’s closing.
