Well it means there is an inversion. so I live somewhere we're kind of below mountains, like in a valley. so sometimes the air is trapped higher and we are stuck for weeks, sometimes months, with fog, clouds, and the same exact temperature since the air is trapped moreless. I guess I might learn about that in the 'Introduction to Weather & Climate' course I have to take next term. I've learnt about that in geography in highschool. Inversion is when layers of air at higher altitude are warmer than below (normally it's the other way around). The air below can't rise as it normally does and is "trapped". It can happen in a valley, but also in industrious areas (because of the warm vapour from cooling towers or exhaust of chimneys, the air is warmer up high).

it was interesting today... in the space of twenty minutes I passed three different bank/store thermometers that ranged from 57 to 39 degrees... I think one of them was way wrong
