Okay, a little analysis and then I guess I will go to sleep...maybe Her hair looks bobbed on the cover but, we all know from her recent appearances that she has not cut her hair recently. This makes for 3 possible cases 1. She's been wearing a wig to all her appearances (I'm going to rule this one out right away because if she was wearing a wig I think someone would have noticed) 2. She's wearing a wig in the photo (more likely but playing with a lighter while wearing a wig? That's risky business) 3. It's an old photo.... If you look at her hair closely it almost looks like the same cut she had around the 2016 grammy's. You know the one...  Yeah, that one. I'm gonna circle back around to this in a second. In terms of aesthetics it seems like 90's grunge. Not super clean cut looking. However, it also kind of looks like the 1989 cover a bit? Like the blue and the off white, similar colour scheme. Her eyeshadow? A smoky blue? So what am I thinking... I never bought into the Karma theory fully. Not that I don't believe that Taylor couldn't have written an album and scrapped it. I think the whole Karma theory was just a bit too on the nose and whatever that was could have easily have been repackaged into reputation. However what I also find striking is how different the album cover is to the picture where she wrote the album's prologue. Also the outfit she's wearing in the second photo? Striking similar to this outfit she wore in Miss Americana  Overall I'm thinking this, this album is going to lean closer to the edgier side, but not for all the songs. I think it'll be more rock leaning, but not for the whole album. She said in the prologue that Midnights is "the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life". I think this may be a compilation album of sorts. She might try and create a sound to tie them together but I think sonic cohesion may be out the window for this one. I think it's possible that this album may contain songs that she wrote in the past that never quite fit into an album before for whatever reason, maybe because they were too personal or didn't fit that album's theme. Maybe they were songs she wanted to write about situations that were happening to her at the time but she didn't have the wherewithal to write them at the time. Overall, I think this album's content matter is going to chronicle a large span of time (maybe her whole career) and I think it'll be the perfect 10th album. Idk though, just speculating. |

It will be interesting to see how she will pace her album releases, with her new ones and her re-recorded ones.
