I don't know why I didn't think of this when 'Lover' (or even 'ME!' was released until recently when I read some comment online about how the merch was pushed for album sales and whatnot. So she's obviously releasing merch now during the first week the 'Folklore' album has been out to try to get as many sales as she can. When will 'Billboard' stop counting this?? I think it's sneaky and/or not good for merch to be sold with album downloads. It should be just about the music. I think it's good they're ending that, so maybe Taylor will STOP dropping so many limited time releases. She had to have partly released this album too to get more sales while 'Billboard' still counts merch sales as album sales.

I had been thinking about this yesterday (the release day of 'Folklore'), but is this album really a digital only album?? I don't know why but I didn't think about it until later in the day that it probably wouldn't be available in stores. I did check 'Walmart' but there was absolutely nothing there. I guess it makes sense on Taylor's end because she knows fans flock to stores to get copies and take pictures and crap on the release day, which wouldn't be good with the virus right now. I don't even see it on the 'Target' website. Is this album going to actually be an album that is only available on her online store or on streaming websites or through music downloading sources? I feel like it would have been very nice for her to clarify this and say that it would not be sold in stores and to stay safe and stay home and download the album. It makes me think of people like Chris (on the old 'Taylor Connect' and on here too) that doesn't have a smart phone and never wants one, and he probably only listens to music through CDs or vinyl records then. She's losing some sales not having it available physically in stores.
I got excited at first wondering if there would be a cardboard cutout that I could get from my 'Walmart' after I marked my territory on it and asked for it. But there was nothing there. Would they eventually get the CDs in store? Would there be any sort of campaign or marketing like how they had cardboard stands and things for her previous albums? And was part of why the CD isn't in stores because it was a surprise album? I guess so. But she had to have known she was releasing this a long while ago. She couldn't just tell her producers/management she's recording songs and have a big photoshoot in the woods done and film a music video for a song in a few days. It would have probably involved a few weeks if not a few months to even pull off a surprise album. And think of all the designing people had to do to design her merch and packaging of all of the different deluxe versions of the CD also. It all takes time, but why were stores not prepared and not have the CD?

I caved I bought the sweater xD Did you order size XL? I don't know why the XXL isn't available...I always check the size charts on clothing items to make sure what their measurements are, and for some reason this blue sweater in particular seems to be made smaller than the others? I usually order an XL sweater because I hate clothes that are tight and I want them looser. The width on an XL shirt/sweater is normally about 24" but the width for this blue sweater is 23" for XL and the XXL isn't available for some reason. So the biggest available size is automatically smaller than what there is usually offered.

And think of all the designing people had to do to design her merch and packaging of all of the different deluxe versions of the CD also. It all takes time, but why were stores not prepared and not have the CD? It was kept highly under wraps. According to Aaron Dessner her label didn't even know about the album until 'hours' before the drop. She has a huge in house team that does basically everything for her, so it's likely they were kept to very tight NDAs and were told as little information as they could. If she started recording in April, it's possible she didn't record to video until as little as a week ago. Her merch team may well have only been given a brief with a few days to go. Factories that produce CDs and press vinyls are common leak points, so it's very likely that they were told to expect a big order from a surprise drop but weren't actually able to start producing vinyls/CDs until the album was actually announced. Therefore it was impossible for the album to be in shops beforehand. I think she's being sensible by not putting it in stores. Now is not the time for the usual actions of this fanbase where they go and move CDs around and have full on photoshoots in shops with the new album. It's sensible of her to not encourage people to go to shops now when it's not necessary. We might see the album in shops in a few months time, but I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case.

I have been a losing bit of weight so hopefully it's not so snug, I hate snug clothes.

People like me are confused. I don’t know why she didn’t make one statement or comment saying to download it or buy it online. Some people like me will wonder if it’s in stores and go look.

Went with the “betty’s garden” deluxe edition. c: Song reminds me nothing of my Grandma but I still feel like I need that version. Plus, I really love the picture of Taylor they used for the front cover.

I really really really want the blue sweater but my bank account is yelling "NO!!" at me People seem to really like it. Now there's only size small and large left in it...It was originally available in sizes small to 2X. I noticed 2X was gone right away so maybe they didn't make any in that size. It must be the favorite merch item because every other item just about has every size available still. EDIT: I saw your other post and wow it is available only in small now. I was mistaken as there are two other items that are available in only a few sizes now. The brown/white tie-dye pullover sweater and the beige pullover sweater.
