I finally got around to watching the documentary today. I found it to be interesting and enjoyable. It gave me insight as to what it is like behind the stage curtain to be a superstar singer/celebrity. I liked seeing Taylor sitting at the top of the table running the staff meeting. Getting an inside look at her writing songs and interacting with other team members while she was doing that was good. When Taylor emerged from behind the curtain for the photographers to take hundreds or thousands of photos of her I thought she kind of looked uncomfortable and was tired of doing that. I think she still likes singing and performing on stage for her fans. Her concerts seem to me to be a unique two way street. Taylor seems to draw energy from the adulation and applause of the crowds and simultaneously the crowds seem to sense that and become even more enthralled with her.
Basically Taylor is who I thought she would be. She is not conceited and loves her family, friends, and fans. She has good days and bad days just like we all do. I think the documentary highlighted two important lessons that I took from watching it. The first is that other people cannot bestow happiness upon someone. Regardless of how much approval others may shower down on a person, it will wear thin after a while. Real and true happiness and contentment must be generated within each of us. Otherwise a person is constantly frustrated because there will always be others who don't like us. This holds true for a celebrity or the average person. The second thing this documentary shows is that being financially wealthy does not guarantee true happiness. There is nothing wrong with being financially successful. But that alone will not bring about the inner peace that most people strive to obtain.
In my opinion Miss Americana was good to watch and it is worth setting aside 90 minutes of time to view it.
