How do import taxes work in Netherlands and Canada? There has been a slight increase in prices for items from overseas on eBay but we pay it at the checkout. Other than that, we don't get given an import tax to pay when it arrives or anything... I mean do they give you a bill or something? How does it work? I guess they keep the package until you pay it? 😶 It's weird you post this question now as there was a question like this on 'Reddit' that I sort of gave a response to for how it works in countries like Canada. Usually with packages that are like ~$300 or lower or maybe even more they don’t charge us customs fees when they’re delivered. But it can depend I guess. It just depends if the border charges fees on it when it comes through. Sometimes the sender just lists a few items on the label and doesn’t say its complete true value (which could be a lot more), which is really nice when they do that. But I recently learned or read online that that’s illegal I think for senders to do that. 'UMG' apparently doesn’t do that because when I made a significantly sizable order in the recent months (with money saved up and stuff) I sent it to me here in Canada instead of to my family’s American address (that we use to save on shipping for online orders and stuff). I did that because shipping was actually cheaper than the taxes you’d pay for the U.S. state it’d be sent to even with free shipping. So anyways, when it FINALLY arrived here after almost a month longer waiting time than anticipated for the products to ship, there was a $245 or something C.O.D. to pay to get the package and I was NOT going to pay it so I told them to send it back. It was apparently customs fees but also "brokerage fees" charged by UPS, which is a company I’ve grown to hate. So I’ve learned NOT to send sizeable orders to me here in Canada.

They treat it like you buy the product over here. So you’ll pay a tax rate of 21%. It’s a bit arbitrary though. Sometimes they don’t bother checking. A bit harsh this time was that on top of the taxes I also payed $15 of handling costs. Indeed they didn’t deliver the package at my door. They gave me a notification that I could pick up the package at the post office (and what I had to pay extra). I think some webshops include the taxes already when you order. And companies like eBay can avoid this by using countries in between (like the UK). To be honest I don’t think I will order again in Taylor’s store. It’s impossible to keep it civil with all the spread out offers and the huge postal fee. If they throw on taxes and handling costs every time on top of that, it’s even worse. Like this time: the merch was worth $120 and I payed $85 of taxes/fees. That's terrible. I thought tax rates in Canada were bad at around 12% like in my province when compared to the U.S. with a tax rate of like 6% in North Dakota. But 21% is just wow.

In Germany it's exactly like Roman told for the Netherlands, just that the taxes are 19% and sometimes you have to pick it up from your customs office and sometimes they deliver it to your door, but if you don't have to pick it up from customs office you have to pay 5€ handling costs, but you can't choose what they do, so it's a complete gamble if they deliver it to your door and you have to pay 5€ extra or not. But sometimes the delivery guy simply forgets to collect the taxes and handling costs For Canada, first there's an increase in price for the exchange rate, then there's shipping (which american websites count as international shipping and typically overcharge for) then to get it through the Canadian border, some shipping companies make you pay a tax for duties which is pretty egregious cause it can make a $10 item $50. Say I wanted the archer cup from Taylor's store which is priced at $20, the shipping for it is $16.41 which brings my total purchase to $36.41 which in CAD is $47.70 altogether and there's still a chance that the delivery person may charge me an extra 5 or 10 dollars for a duty fee which means that I would have to pay nearly $60 for a $20 mug. Also American acts also charge more for their merch in Canada when they do shows up here. Things would be A LOT better for us Canadians if the U.S. and Canada dollars were on par or if the dollar exchange wasn't so RIDICULOUS, and also if they didn't overcharge shipping to Canada every single time. I will never be able to understand how shipping from the U.K. to Canada for something can often be cheaper than it would be from the U.S to Canada. Absolutely ridiculous.

Shipping from US to Germany isn't cheap either. Just a normal CD often costs a minimum of 20€ just for shipping. But German DHL is even more expensive when you send packages to a country outside of the EU.

I don’t get the new daylight shirt. If this is the Valentine’s Day collection why would she choose the least romantic line from that song? Like why not do the chorus or something. Even the cruel summer shirt lyric choice is questionable.

Why didn't they announced it two hours earlier? Cause two hours earlier I bought two old calendars on Ebay. Well, I ordered the litho anyway.

The Valentine's Day 'Black Crewneck' is an absolute freaking joke. Okay, Taylor Nation, buy black sweatshirts from some company somewhere and embroider a tiny heart on it and sell it for $55. I don't know why but I first had this thought (the doge meme) about this stupid sweatshirt. WOW! Very design, much concept, such art. WOW!

I hope the 'Valentine's Day' locket necklace comes back in stock some time...I just made an order tonight with a few of the 'Miss Americana' merch items and the Valentine's Day lithograph and Valentine's Day card set (x2) and I was maybe going to buy the locket but it was out of stock anyways... :/

Has anyone else played their Lover record? Mine skips on I Think He Knows and The Man which are two of my favorite songs so that sucks. I don't know if I should bother to try to exchange it as they all might skip
