It's kind of...weird to me that the first thing people do when they turn 21 in the U.S. is get drunk. Or maybe not drunk drunk but at least have a drink or two. I don't even think it crossed my mind when I turned 21. It was a regular old birthday, to me. Certainly not trying to sound holier-than-thou, considering I don't drink, but, hey, you know, these people can do what they want as long as they're responsible about it. same though I remember when I turned 21 peeps were like so you gonna go drinking uh no?

we all knew the grammys were a fraud when Red lost to Random Access Memory.

I’ve still never been drunk. Not everywhere. I live in one of the three provinces that has 18 as the legal age to drink. I've still never had an actual full alcoholic drink in my life and I don't want to. I think I've realized I don't want to be drunk and I want to be in control because of anxiety and the need for perfection, and watching my elder sibling grow up getting drunk at 14 and puking in ditches and coming home in cop cars I realized made me want to be NOTHING like her.

Idk about you guys but it's because there's something nice about being able to do something legally. It's like how it's tradition in the UK to buy a lottery ticket at 16, to go out on a driving lesson the morning of your 17th birthday, and you go buy alcohol when it's your 18th birthday. It's something you're allowed to do now so it's new and exciting, plus I always think getting drunk whilst you're younger is better because it teaches you your limits early.

How do y'all feel about Taylor being replaced on the Legends Corner mural?
Personally, it was crappy to replace her since it looks like they had plenty of room to add Brad Paisley in somewhere. BUT, watching fans act like he's not deserving of it or like Taylor singlehandedly created country music is a mess. When she was a country music artist, and she still does this even now, she would always support her fellow artists. Like, yes, she achieved a lot in that genre but why do we have to ignore what the others have achieved as well? I would also be inclined to believe that she had a heads up that he was going to take her spot or maybe.....doesn't even care. Honestly, I feel like if it had been another female country artist, people wouldn't be saying much. It's crappy on both sides.

Ah yes, I meant to bring this up because, though Taylor had a very successful country career, it was more like a stepping stone, and I don't blame them for replacing her when she hasn't (really) been part of that family for 6+ years.

I agree. I think she definitely has her place on that mural, but everyone else seems to be someone who's either still active in country music or was in country music for their entire career. She's definitely the outlier there, and I'm not wholly convinced that she didn't start off a career in country music because someone told her it would be easier than going straight into pop. Honestly, I'm just kind of jaded with the whole fandom at the moment and the way they idolise Taylor and act like she's the only person to have done anything in music.

You gotta wonder sometimes if some of these fans would defend her if she ever committed a crime. Sometimes the “Taylor is the music industry” comments/jokes are funny but let’s not discredit everyone else. Everyone has their own talents and specialities and I’m just really tired of the constant comparisons. And while I’m at it, I’m tired of seeing fans mock and attack people that have had problems with Taylor. None of us will ever know the full situation and both sides are probably over it but some fans keep bringing it up. I’m mostly thinking about Justin Bieber because I’m getting tired of the “Dustbin” comments. I’m not a fan of his at all but I felt for him when he released Lonely. If anyone that hates him can’t show just a little compassion for him, they might want to do some soul searching or inner work or something... This cancel culture is too much. I’m also really sick of people wanting to pit Selena Gomez against Hailey Baldwin and reminding Selena of an old and unhealthy relationship. Gosh, I really don’t know how celebrities handle constantly having their pasts brought up and getting criticized for them.

Gosh, I really don’t know how celebrities handle constantly having their pasts brought up and getting criticized for them. Also, it's totally discrediting the artists that came before Taylor! Would she have been inspired to change up her looks every era if it wasn't for Madonna? Would she have become huge in the pop sphere if she didn't take inspiration from the 80s? I think some people lose hindsight, and I'm not saying every single post about Taylor needs a footnote thanking artists from the 1950s for rock and roll which led to music being where it is today, but Taylor hasn't done this on her own and is building on those before her. I'm a bit over stan culture in general to be honest. You wouldn't have stans for the different cashiers at your local supermarket, and when you think of artists as just doing their jobs like that it becomes so weird. It's the same with people who have been making comments like 'I can't believe Shawn would work with Justin and do that to Taylor'. Not everything is a big loyalty battle! At the end of the day Shawn has his own career and he's got to make his own decisions and moves on what's most beneficial for his own career, not to appease someone who gave him a bit of a boost at the start of his career.

Sometimes I'll scroll through the filters on Instagram and some of them are gorgeous but they make me look like a completely different person! Then when I remove the filter and I'm looking at my normal self, I don't look as good. When I do take a selfie, I try not to use any filters but if I do use one, I try to stick with ones that don't change my face too much. I don't want to criticize people that always use filters but I have to wonder if they use them because they like them or because they feel like they need to. Unless you're super self-confident, I'm afraid some of these filters will start messing with your head and making you think your normal face is ugly!

Starting to feel like I might have to remove the internet completely from my life. Or at least the social media side. I've already seen too many disgusting "fans" say Fearless (Taylor's Version) is what killed Prince Philip. Like how tactless do you have to be to say something like that and think it's funny? That's one of my problems with the internet. Some of the things people make jokes and memes out of are just pathetic. I guess I haven't developed a taste for dark humor. Also, I know I don't have thick skin. I'm not one of those that can roll my eyes and keep scrolling when I see something I don't like. There are just too many opinions on here and it all gets overwhelming. I'm tired of watching people get "canceled" because of some mistake they made YEARS ago that somebody with no life decided to drag up. I'm tired of just about everyone on the internet reposting the suicide hotline numbers and acting like they care about those that are struggling but partake in the relentless bullying some people face. I'm tired of people under the age of 18 "coming after" people 30 and older and vice versa. Like, honestly, I have never found the "Ok, boomer" and Karen jokes funny. I am just so sick of some people acting like they're so much better than everyone else. Another problem I have is certain topics people want to normalize. There are some things that I do not want to know about my friends and complete strangers on the internet. But, of course, I am wrong for being a prude and reserved. Honestly, I know all of my problems could be solved if I would just only pay attention to the things I like. Me seriously deleting social media will most likely never happen. I think this is just a rant that has been building up in me for quite some time. It's crazy that a main purpose of the internet is to connect us all but all it seems to do is make me feel ignored and lonelier. I suppose I don't truly talk to anyone but I just haven't found anyone that I relate to. I haven't found anyone that I feel like will understand me and I honestly don't think I ever will find that person.

One thing that helped me a lot was being really picky and cleaning up social media. I removed all people that annoyed me or sources that delivered garbage. That really helped. Now my feed is filled with pleasant people and informative things. I also don’t go on there every minute. It can become such a habit to mindlessly scroll through those apps eventhough nothing has changed. I’m also trying to do more useful or relaxing things. I noticed by constantly going through those feeds, my attention span and focus really started to decline rapidly. It’s much better to create something or read something educational.

It’s not me trying to shame others that are like an open book. I just need to learn how to either keep scrolling or put my phone down is all.
